Week 1 of the 2026 season is here, and the quarterback board is loaded with storylines up and down the slate. Kyler Murray was released outright and landed in Minnesota, Kirk Cousins beat out a first overall pick for the job in Las Vegas, and Tua Tagovailoa is starting Week 1 for a team that isn't Miami. On top of the roster movement, the Bucs-Bengals game carries the highest total on the entire board at 50.5, the Chargers are laying nearly two touchdowns as the week's biggest favorite over Arizona, and the Raiders-Dolphins game projects as the lowest-scoring matchup of the week. There's a lot to sort through before you build your Week 1 rosters. Below you'll find the picks I'm targeting, the best pure value on each site, the stacks I like building around, the fade I want no part of, a look at how pricing differs between DraftKings and FanDuel, and my full QB rankings for the week.

NFL DFS Week 1 QB Picks

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals - DraftKings: $6,900 | FanDuel: $8,200

I am really bullish on Burrow to open the season, and for good reason. A Grade 3 turf toe injury cost him nine games and required surgery last season, but the flashes he showed once he got back on the field are exactly why I'm circling him for Week 1. Over his final six games, Burrow threw 15 touchdowns, second-most in the NFL over that span, on a pace that would have put him around 630 attempts for a full season. He's fully healthy now, throwing to arguably the best true 1-2 receiver punch in football outside of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens in Dallas: Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, behind an offensive line that returns all five starters. Add in a home opener in Cincinnati's annual Orange Out game, and this matchup carrying the highest Vegas total of the entire Week 1 slate at 50.5 with the Bengals favored by 3.5, and I don't see much reason to fade him here. Every signal here points toward a huge Week 1 for Joe Cool.

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers - DraftKings: $6,100 | FanDuel: $7,600

Herbert put up 3,727 yards, 26 touchdowns and a career-high 498 rushing yards last season despite playing behind the league's most beat-up offensive line, absorbing an NFL-high 288 pressures and getting sacked 54 times, second-most among all quarterbacks. That line is still a bit of a patchwork job heading into Week 1, so I won't pretend it's completely fixed. Pro Bowl tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt are both on track to start after each battled injury this summer, though the center spot took a real hit when free agent addition Tyler Biadasz tore his ACL in an August joint practice and landed on season-ending injured reserve, handing the job to rookie Jake Slaughter. Even with a rookie manning the pivot, having both bookend tackles back is a massive upgrade from a year ago, and first-year offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel is running the show with an expanded tight end room that now includes free agent addition David Njoku alongside Oronde Gadsden. As for the matchup, Arizona is beginning a new coaching era, and the Chargers are the largest favorite of the entire Week 1 schedule, laying somewhere between 9.5 and 11.5 points depending on the book. I'm rolling with Herbert as a paid-up option in what looks like a clean spot.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars - DraftKings: $5,800 | FanDuel: $7,700

I'm once again in on the Jaguars offense this season, and this time I don't think it's a leap of faith. Lawrence closed out 2025 as an MVP finalist, throwing for 4,007 yards with a career-high 29 touchdowns and adding 359 rushing yards and nine more scores on the ground, good for 38 total touchdowns, a franchise record. His transformation under Liam Coen was even more dramatic than those raw numbers suggest, too. From Week 13 on, Lawrence posted a 92.6 PFF grade, the highest among all quarterbacks over that stretch, as Jacksonville won 13 games and the AFC South. Now he draws a friendly Week 1 spot at home against a Browns team that just traded away its best defensive player, Myles Garrett, to the Rams in June, and Cleveland's offense projects as one of the league's worst, which could mean plenty of short fields for Jacksonville to work with. Brian Thomas and Jakobi Meyers each dealt with minor camp injuries but both are confirmed to go for the opener, and Parker Washington is back after a breakout season of his own. It's the same receiving corps that fueled the Year 2 leap under Coen, and Jacksonville is favored by a touchdown or more here, which tells you how the oddsmakers see this one playing out.

 

 

 

Best NFL DFS QB Values for Week 1

Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals - DraftKings: $5,100 | FanDuel: $7,000

At $5,100 on DraftKings, Brissett is sitting just a hundred dollars above the bottom of the startable QB pool, and I think that's a mistake by the algorithm. He took over for an injured Murray back in Week 6 last season and turned into one of the better value plays in fantasy, throwing for 3,366 yards and 23 touchdowns over his final 12 starts while averaging 18.9 fantasy points per game. The volume is really the whole story here. Brissett averaged a league-high 40.3 pass attempts per start, and Arizona led the NFL in pass attempts over that stretch. He's back as the Week 1 starter, and with Los Angeles sitting as the biggest favorite on the entire Week 1 board, Arizona figures to be playing from behind often, which is exactly the kind of recipe that produced the garbage time volume fueling Brissett's breakout a year ago. He still has Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison and Michael Wilson to throw to, and at this price I'm happy to take that kind of expected pass volume.

Kirk Cousins, Las Vegas Raiders - DraftKings: $5,000 | FanDuel: $6,700

Cousins comes in at $6,700 on FanDuel, tied with Geno Smith and Fernando Mendoza near the bottom of the viable starting pool, and I like grabbing him there. I'm not going to sit here and tell you I'm bullish on Cousins' own play at this point in his career. His raw 2025 numbers in Atlanta were rough, just 1,721 yards, 10 touchdowns and a career-low 6.4 yards per attempt, and he only won this Raiders job over No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza because the team wanted a veteran bridge. This is really a matchup play for me. Las Vegas is a home favorite over a Dolphins team that could be the worst in football, and while the total on this game is the lowest of the Week 1 slate, that context still favors the team expected to be ahead on the scoreboard. He does have the weapons to get there if things click. He now has a healthy Brock Bowers to throw to, who still managed 64 catches, 680 yards and seven touchdowns in just 12 games last year despite playing through a knee injury that eventually cost him five games, and the group around Bowers don't get enough credit either. Tre Tucker set career highs across the board a year ago, and Jalen Nailor arrives in free agency to reunite with Cousins after the two were teammates in Minnesota, plus Ashton Jeanty gives the offense a dynamic receiving back out of the backfield. If Cousins can squeak out something like 200-plus yards and a couple of touchdowns against this Miami defense, he's paid off his price tag on FanDuel.

If I'm building a game stack around the highest total on the board, I want the quarterback and both of his top receivers. Chase and Higgins give Burrow arguably the best true 1-2 receiver punch in football outside of Dallas, and with this game carrying the slate's highest total at 50.5 and the Bengals favored by 3.5 at home, there's no reason to pick just one of them. Chase is the alpha and the safer floor, but Higgins has legitimate touchdown equity of his own, and stacking all three lets you capture the offense no matter which receiver Burrow leans on in a given quarter.

Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals - DraftKings: $5,100 | FanDuel: $7,000

Stack with:

McBride has quietly become one of the most reliable checkdown options in football, and Brissett leaned on him constantly during his 12-start run a year ago. With the Chargers as the largest favorite of the week, Arizona figures to be playing from behind often, and that kind of game script tends to funnel extra targets to the tight end over the middle of the field as the easy completion. Brissett averaged a league-high 40.3 attempts per start last season, and McBride was a direct beneficiary of that volume. This pairing gives you correlated production without needing a shootout to hit.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars - DraftKings: $5,800 | FanDuel: $7,700

Stack with:

Everyone building around Jacksonville this week is going to be all over Brian Thomas, and rightfully so given his role in this offense. But Parker Washington quietly turned in a breakout season of his own last year, and pairing him with Thomas Jr. off of Lawrence gives you exposure to this favorable matchup against a Browns defense that just lost Myles Garrett without paying up for the obvious chalk. Jacksonville is favored by a touchdown or more at home, and if this game gets out of hand early the way Vegas expects, Washington's snaps in the underneath and intermediate game could turn into real production while the field is stacking the same one or two Jaguars pass catchers.

 

 

 

NFL DFS QB Fades for Week 1

Tua Tagovailoa, Atlanta Falcons - DraftKings: $4,800 | FanDuel: $6,600

Listen, there won't be many weeks this season where I'm fully off a starting quarterback, but this is one of them. Tagovailoa put together a disastrous 2025 in Miami, posting the third-worst QBR among starters, throwing 15 interceptions, the second-most in the league, and eventually losing his job to seventh-round rookie Quinn Ewers for the final three games. He signed a one-year, veteran-minimum deal in Atlanta and only won the Week 1 job because Michael Penix remains sidelined recovering from a torn ACL. His preseason didn't do much to change my mind either, as he struggled with multiple fumbled snaps and averaged just 6.9 air yards per attempt, one of the lowest marks among qualified passers in 2025. Pittsburgh is favored at home in this one, and betting on a shaky quarterback in a brand new offense making his first regular-season start for a new team just isn't a bet I want to make in Week 1. It's a fade for me.

NFL DFS Week 1 QB Play of the Week - Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals 

He's fully healthy for the first time in his last two seasons; he has Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins at his disposal, and he opens the year at home in front of the Orange Out crowd. This game also carries the highest total of the entire Week 1 slate at 50.5, so Vegas is expecting plenty of points too. DraftKings vs. FanDuel QB Picks for Week 1

Pricing between the two sites tells a pretty interesting story this week. Burrow runs $6,900 on DraftKings and $8,200 on FanDuel, the top price on each site among the guys I actually like, and I don't think either number is a reach given the matchup. Herbert is $6,100 on DraftKings and $7,600 on FanDuel, while Lawrence comes in at $5,800 on DraftKings but $7,700 on FanDuel, meaning FanDuel actually prices Lawrence above Herbert while DraftKings has it the other way around. That's a real edge for Lawrence on FanDuel if you believe in the Jaguars spot, since you're paying a premium for Herbert on DraftKings that FanDuel doesn't require. On the value end, Brissett is about as cheap as it gets on DraftKings at $5,100, practically punt territory, but he's priced more in the middle of the pack on FanDuel at $7,000, which makes him a much stronger relative value play on DraftKings than on FanDuel this week. Cousins is similar, sitting at the rock-bottom tier on DraftKings at $5,000 but a bit more substantial on FanDuel at $6,700. And Tagovailoa, for what it's worth, is priced near the bottom on both sites, $4,800 on DraftKings and $6,600 on FanDuel, which tells you the industry mostly agrees with me on him this week.
