Well, there you have it, the first week of the 2016 NFL season is in the books. We saw great quarterback play in Week 1, but we also some underwhelming performances from bigger names. Now, that is in hindsight and it’s off to the preparation for Week 2. Just like last, I have my Top 5 quarterback plays for you for this week of the NFL season. If you have one of these guys on your team or in your DFS lineup, you’ll be off to a great start.

Cam Newton vs. SF

His success on the ground makes it so hard to leave him out of the top 5 whenever you talk about ranking quarterbacks. The 49ers defense played well in the opener, but Cam Newton and Co. are a different breed. Newton racked up 20 fantasy points in Week 1 and you can consider that his floor for this matchup.

Derek Carr vs. ATL

Carr continues to improve and he’s in line for a big game against an Atlanta defense that allowed 281 yards and 4 touchdowns to Jameis Winston. This game should be a rather high-scoring affair, leave the door wide open for a 300+ yard and multiple touchdown day for the young Raiders quarterback.

Eli Manning vs. NO

In case you missed Week 1, the Saints still have no defense and Eli will be the next quarterback to feast on this porous defensive unit. Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz and Sterling Shepard are just way too much for New Orleans to deal with and since this game will be a shootout, Manning carries immense upside.

Drew Brees @ NYG

New Orleans’ defense is so damn bad that Brees is going to have to do his part to keep his team in the game. He’s going to throw the ball a bunch and he should have plenty of success in this one. If Giants stop the run, which I expect they will, Brees will have to do even more through the air.

Matthew Stafford vs. TEN

Stafford lit up the Indianapolis defense like it was the Fourth of July. He threw for 340 yards with three scores and his performances under Jim Bob Cooter have been nothing short of exemplary. He’s also in line for a great matchup this week against the Tennessee Titans.
