Welcome back to another edition of the Fantasy Alarm NFL DFS Playbook! We are officially in the heart of the 2026 NFL season, and Week 9 brings us an exciting 11-game Sunday main slate. While international football continues to grow as the Cincinnati Bengals face off against the Atlanta Falcons in Madrid at Bernabeu Stadium, we get a packed 11-game main slate starting at 1:00 PM ET. With only two teams enjoying their bye week, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans, and the usual slate-ending prime-time games kept separate, we have plenty of elite matchups and key values to build winning lineups across DraftKings and FanDuel. Finding the right NFL DFS Week 9 strategies will be key to dominating cash games and taking down GPP tournaments.
The mainstream crowd will inevitably flock to the two marquee shootouts boasting high 51.5 game totals: the Dallas Cowboys visiting the Indianapolis Colts, and the Las Vegas Raiders heading to the San Francisco 49ers. We also have the Detroit Lions taking on the Miami Dolphins, sitting at a healthy 49.5 total with Vegas heavily favoring the over at -120. Heavy exposure to these games is essential for building a solid foundation in cash games. However, when we dive into GPP tournaments, relying solely on NFL DFS projections for high-owned chalk won't get you to the top of the leaderboard. We must find strategic, low-owned game stacks and smart run-backs to differentiate our lineups while maintaining high-ceiling potential.
Reflecting on our performance in Week 8, both the Playbook and Dart Board delivered fantastic results! Cash game builds flourished behind dominant outings from Joe Burrow, Bhayshul Tuten, and Braelon Allen, giving us a very safe floor. Meanwhile, our GPP tournament rosters smashed past cash lines thanks to sharp, low-owned DFS NFL picks like Adonai Mitchell, Jonah Coleman, and Dalton Kincaid. As we turn our focus to Week 9, evaluating high-ceiling mini-stacks, team stacks, precise matchup metrics, and NFL DFS projections will be imperative for building winning slates on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
NFL Week 9 DFS Picks & Preview for DraftKings & FanDuel: Sunday, 11/8
This Week 9 slate offers a dynamic mix of high-scoring games and premier individual match-ups. With high totals across key NFC and AFC matchups, cash game builds will feature high-volume running backs and dominant target-monsters, while GPP builds will require taking calculated risks on mid-tier flex plays and leverage spots.
Keeping an eye on key player updates, injury reports, and weather forecasts will give you a decisive edge when narrowing down your NFL DFS Week 9 pool.

NFL Weather: Week 9 DFS Impact
As we continue into November, late-autumn weather begins to creep into northern venues. Keep a close eye on preliminary reports before lock, but here are the primary games to monitor, courtesy of our good friend Kevin Roth at MySportsWeather.com
- Los Angeles Rams at Washington Commanders: Sustained winds 10-15mph, gusts around 20. It's worth keeping an eye on to make sure winds don't come in higher than what models are currently showing, but our concern level right now is low.
- New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles: Similar to Washington D.C., we should see 10-15mph sustained winds with gusts around 20mph. That's just not enough to move the needle in fantasy or for sports-betting, even with kickers. We'll keep an eye on things to make sure the forecast doesn't jump higher than that.
You can also find continuous updates on the Fantasy Alarm Weather Center.

NFL DFS Week 8 Picks: Howard Bender's Favorites
Before you start building lineups off of these core plays, understand that this is really just a primer for the full player pool. Scroll further down and you will see the full list of my own personal NFL DFS Week 9 player pool. I’ve spent this entire week studying everything about the upcoming matchups as well as everything we've witnessed over the first eight weeks of the NFL season. I have combed through our NFL DFS projections and put together a list of candidates around which I am building most, and in some cases, all of my lineups.
Still, people have asked me for my favorites, as if you don't already know reading the DFS Watch List and listening to me on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio as well as both the DFS Show and Alarm Fantasy Football. We’ve had numerous discussions regarding all the value available on this main slate, so I’m willing to bet you already know who some of my favorite NFL DFS Week 9 picks are already. If you don’t already have an idea, then here is where I highlight a few from a variety of categories.
One caveat – this in no way means that all of my lineups will consist of these players. Don't freak out if I post an example lineup or, even better, a lineup that cashed well, that doesn't include some of these players. Will they be in a lot of them? Absolutely. But in the time between posting this Playbook and the first Sunday kickoff, things can change. Ownership percentages can change. Weather can change. Gut feelings can change. These might be some of my favorite NFL DFS Week 9 picks, but this is a guideline, not the gospel.
