CFB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets: Saturday, 11/7
Our CFB best bets today start with Minnesota hosting undefeated UCLA in a Big Ten showdown. Plus, Missouri takes on Texas in a top 25 SEC matchup. Check out more CFB picks below for the rest of this Saturday’s action. Good luck!
UCLA vs. Minnesota Prediction: Saturday, November 7th
UCLA is 8-0 and one of only three remaining unbeaten teams in college football. As impressive as this magical run has been, it may be time to fade the Bruins on the road this weekend. Minnesota is a live home underdog to end UCLA’s perfect season. Let’s back the Golden Gophers to cover the spread for our CFB best bets today.
Minnesota is a sneaky-tough opponent for UCLA this week. The Golden Gophers nearly upset Indiana on the road last week, ultimately falling in overtime. They also defeated a top-15 Iowa team at home the week prior. Minnesota boasts a home conference win over Michigan earlier this season, too.
Plus, the Gophers have been excellent against the spread. They’re 6-2 ATS this year, including 4-1 as underdogs. Head coach P.J. Fleck’s squad is now 10-5 ATS as a dog over the past three seasons. That includes a 6-1 ATS mark as a home underdog in conference play during this stretch.
This is also a tough road trip for UCLA. Notably, it’s only the second time this season that the Bruins will play outside of the West Coast. They’ve benefited from playing 5 of the first 8 games at home, while having close road matchups at Oregon and California. The only other time UCLA traveled across the country was to Maryland. It was a 54-3 drubbing, but the Terps are 2-6 this year and just fired their head coach.
In this week’s matchup, Minnesota’s top-tier defense can keep it close and hold UCLA in check. The Golden Gophers rank 26th nationally in defensive EPA/Play and 22nd in total yards allowed per game. They’re especially strong against the pass, ranking 19th in success rate and 18th in EPA/Pass.
Meanwhile, UCLA has only faced a handful of tough defenses so far. The Bruins struggled to score in those games, mustering only 17 points against both Oregon and Wisconsin. The offense has also been downgraded ever since QB Nico Iamaleava was lost to a season-ending injury.
The only concern in backing Minnesota is its own offense. The Gophers rank 133rd in offensive EPA/Play and 132nd in offensive success rate. That doesn’t exactly instill confidence. Let’s just hope they make enough plays to stay within one score, while leaning on that stout defense.

Texas vs. Missouri Prediction: Saturday, November 7th
Let’s turn our attention to an SEC showdown between two top 25 squads. Texas is 7th, and Missouri is 18th in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings. Both teams are 6-2 ahead of this marquee matchup. Mizzou is the side to back for our CFB best bets today.
First, Missouri desperately needs to win this week to stay alive in the Playoff hunt. The Tigers are just outside of the bracket, but a win over top-10 Texas would certainly improve the resume. Plus, tough matchups against Georgia and Kentucky loom in the next two weeks. Getting a statement win here would be massive.
Meanwhile, Texas is still an unproven commodity with up-and-down swings. The Longhorns beat Ohio State and Tennessee earlier this year, but then lost two straight to Oklahoma and Florida. They got back on track with a win over Ole Miss two weeks ago. However, it seems like a good time to fade Texas on the road.
Believe it or not, this is only Texas’ second true road game this season. The Longhorns edged out Tennessee, 20-17, on the road in September but haven’t experienced a tough away environment since. Their loss to Oklahoma was on a neutral field at the Cotton Bowl. It’s a small detail we shouldn’t overlook.
Conversely, Missouri returns home after a two-game road trip. The Tigers handily won their first two home conference matchups, beating both Florida and Texas A&M by 20+ points. Home-field advantage is a real thing for Mizzou, which is 7-3 ATS at home in SEC play over the past three seasons. Plus, head coach Eli Drinkwitz is 11-4-1 ATS as a home underdog.
Missouri’s strong defense should be a difference-maker in this week’s matchup. The Tigers rank 21st nationally in defensive EPA/Play and 28th in defensive success rate. They can frustrate an inconsistent Texas offense that ranks 102nd in EPA/Play. Plus, the Longhorns are dealing with multiple skill-position injuries. Top wide receivers Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo are questionable, and both could be out, while running back Hollywood Smothers is sidelined.
On the other side of the ball, Texas boasts a top-tier defense itself. However, the unit has regressed over the past month. Before last week, the Longhorns allowed 27 points in three straight games to Oklahoma, Florida, and Ole Miss. The Collin Simmons injury is also a big one to monitor, as his potential absence downgrades the defense.
Mizzou has the offensive firepower to exploit some of Texas’ defensive issues. Quarterback Austin Simmons has been playing at a high level all season while headlining a dangerous passing attack. The Tigers also have a stud running back in Jamal Roberts, and former starter Ahmad Hardy is back healthy too.
