Tyler Bertuzzi admitted that going through salary arbitration felt odd, but he is happy to have a contract completed with the Detroit Red Wings.
Bertuzzi was awarded a one-year contract worth $3.5 million by an independent arbitrator Tuesday. "Obviously it was a little different than anything I've ever been through," Bertuzzi said Wednesday. "But it went smoothly and we're happy that we got a deal done. I'm happy to be back." He was the first of 26 players RFAs to file for salary arbitration to get to a hearing. Bertuzzi is anxious to prove himself next season and potentially get a longer contract down the road. He produced 21 goals and a personal best 48 points over 71 matches during the 2019-20 campaign.
