Nothing has changed from last season, so get ready for another year of Best Bets, DFS recommendations, and the unpredictable nature of goalies.

Before we dive into the fun, I want to remind everyone that the start of the season is often very volatile. We’ll be using last season's data, and not everything will translate perfectly to the 2026-27 season. Be cautious with your bankroll in the first week of action. We have an entire year ahead of us, so let’s take it slow and build up to something great, like prom night. Keep units small so your wins can grow as the season progresses.

🔥 St. Louis Blues vs Minnesota Wild Prediction

The St. Louis Blues have had a decent start to the season, but one player has truly thrived in his new environment. Mason McTavish, once overlooked in Anaheim, has rejuvenated his career with the Blues and has been noticeably active on the ice. The centreman has recorded an impressive 15 shots on goal over the last three games, doing so in all but one game this season.

While a matchup against Minnesota may not seem favourable at first glance, the statistics tell a different story: they are currently allowing an average of 9 shots per game to centremen, the highest in the league. Given this information, it seems like an excellent opportunity for McTavish to continue his momentum.

🔥 Detroit Red Wings vs Philadelphia Flyers Prediction

Unlike Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat wants to stay in Detroit long term. The Red Wings’ forward recently signed a new seven-year, $90 million extension that will take effect next season. The team is making him their highest-paid player in hopes that he can lead them to success.

For tonight's game, we are looking for DeBrincat to have at least four shots on goal. The Wings average the third-highest number of shots on goal, and they'll face a Philadelphia team that has allowed the most shots this season. On paper, this looks like a solid bet. DeBrincat will have plenty of opportunities tonight, so lock him in and move on!

 

 

 

🏒Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

🏅Goalie of the Day: Linus Ullmark - OTT

No goalie in the league is as hot as Linus Ullmark. The Senators' goalie is 5-0-0, with a 1.27 goals-against average (GAA) and a .948 save percentage (SV%). He may eventually come back down to earth, but tonight might not be the night. The Islanders do not have a particularly dangerous offence, and Vegas has set the game total at 5.5, indicating low expectations for scoring. Ullmark is an affordable option and my top choice for cash games.

🏅Honourable Mention: Dylan Garand - NYR

Dylan Garand has put together impressive performances since Igor Shesterkin was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a lower-body injury. With a 3-1-0 record, a goals-against average (GAA) of 1.15, and a save percentage (SV%) of .951, he is showing management he can handle the responsibilities, at least for now.

The Devils are averaging over 36 shots on goal per game; however, they are averaging only 2.67 goals. A team that shoots frequently but struggles to score makes Garand an attractive option for guaranteed prize pool (GPP) contests, as he can still offer value even without a win.

🏅Skater of the Day: Connor McDavid - EDM

I would like to fade Connor McDavid, but he has an impressive 17 points in six games and has recorded multiple points in three of the last four games. Despite his price exceeding $9,000, he remains a strong contender and still offers value. You can either join the momentum and benefit from his success or choose to step aside and watch as those who play him continue to excel.

🏅Honourable Mention: Brady Tkachuk - FLA

Brady Tkachuk finally had his breakout performance in South Florida. The former Senators captain scored three goals and added an assist against the Blue Jackets. Now, he's set to face the Vancouver Canucks on home ice. The Canucks have been struggling defensively, allowing nearly five goals per game and losing their last five matches. This defensive struggle should create plenty of scoring opportunities for Brady and the team, hopefully leading to a high-scoring game.

🏅Value Play of the Day: Roman Kantserov - CHI

Many people are thrilled to see Connor Bedard back in the lineup, but Roman Kantserov might be the most excited. He is skating on a line with the newly appointed captain and Patrick Kane in all situations. He scored two goals in the last game and is expected to keep getting significant ice time and scoring opportunities. He is a strong single-bullet option in all formats.

🏅Top Stack of the Day: FLA PP1

The Canucks are struggling for many reasons, but their terrible penalty kill is likely the main issue. They rank at the bottom of the league, operating at just 57.1%. While the Panthers' power play hasn't been outstanding, good players will take advantage of scoring opportunities when they arise. I am particularly interested in the combination of Matthew and Brady Tkachuk along with Sam Reinhart.
