Down 2-0, the Blues pulled Jordan Binnington for the extra attacker. At 18:14 of the third, Sundqvist struck to slice the lead to 2-1 against Cal Petersen to make things interesting. Unfortunately for the Blues, that's as close as they could get. Sundqvist ended up with a plus-1 rating, two shots on goal and a pair of hits in his 18:59 of ice time across 16 shifts, and he lost all but one of his nine faceoff attempts. Sundqvist remains useful only in deeper fantasy pools at the moment.

Jordan Binnington allowed two goals on 20 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 home loss against the Los Angeles Kings.

Binnington exchanged donuts with Cal Petersen in the first period before coughing up two goals to Alex Iafallo and Andreas Athanasiou in the second. Oskar Sundqvist scored with an extra attacker late in the third to make things interesting, but that's as close as the Blues could get. Binnington slipped to 8-6-2 with a 2.49 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in his 16 starts this season. The Blues are off until Saturday in San Jose.

Athanasiou scored at 16:08 of the second period to make it 2-0. Oskar Sundqvist scored at 18:14 of the third period with an extra attacker, slicing the lead to 2-1, and that's how it finished. As a result, Athanasiou was credited with the game-winning tally. He finished with a plus-1 rating, three shots on goal and a minor penalty in his 10:51 of ice time across 14 shifts. Petersen was staked to a 2-0 lead after two periods, and the only goal he allowed was an even-strength goal to Oskar Sundqvist with 1:46 remaining in regulation, as the Blues scored with the extra attacker to make it interesting. It also crushed fantasy managers and DFS players, as Petersen was that close to a shutout. He leveled his record at 4-4-1 with a 2.28 goals-against average and .931 save percentage through nine starts and 10 appearances. Petersen and Jonathan Quick are playing well lately, and are essentially in a timeshare situation which is working.

Kessel posted a plus-2 rating, two shots on goal and a blocked shot in 20:28 of ice time across 26 shifts. Kessel has followed up a four-game scoreless skid with three goals, six points and a plus-2 rating during his current four-game point streak. Kessel has run hot and cold all season. Conor Garland registered a pair of assists in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout win against the Anaheim Ducks.

Garland ended up with a plus-1 rating, a shot on goal and a blocked shot in his 21:24 of ice time across 26 shifts. Garland was also one of two scorers in the shootout against Ryan Miller, leading the Coyotes to the win in the extra session. After registering three goals and seven points in eight games in January, Garland has picked up four goals, 11 points and a plus-5 rating in 11 games in the month of February. Adin Hill turned aside all 14 shots he faced in Wednesday's relief appearance against the Anaheim Ducks.

Hill entered the game early in the third period after Darcy Kuemper left with an apparent lower-body injury. He was sharp in the third period, and he allowed just one goal to Trevor Zegras in the shootout while Conor Garland and Christian Dvorak scored in the extra session to give Hill a much-deserved victory. After the game, head coach Rick Tocchet said he expected Kuemper to be fine, but Hill could potentially draw a start if Kuemper needs some time to rest. DFS players will be especially interested in this on Friday against the Avalanche.

Darcy Kuemper left Wednesday's start against the Anaheim Ducks in the third period due to a lower-body injury.

Kuemper allowed three goals on 21 shots before suffering an apparent lower-body injury while going down to make a save. Head coach Rick Tocchet said after the game that he thinks Kuemper will be fine, and that's a big sigh of relief for Coyotes fans and fantasy managers. Adin Hill came on in relief and stopped all 14 shots he faced before picking up the victory in a shootout. If you're in a daily league, reserve Kuemper until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.
