Jayce Hawryluk has confirmed that he tested positive for COVID-19.

Hawryluk is the only player among his Senators teammates to publicly disclose that he contracted the virus. "I remember playing in L.A. in that final game of the season and I remember being a bit more fatigued than I usually am," he said. "It was just kind of, legs and lungs were a little heavy. I just thought, ‘Eh, it’s professional hockey, sometimes you’re not feeling well, some games you’re a bit tired.’ Now looking back at it, I think I probably had COVID at the time." It's a good thing that the NHL decided to pause the 2019-20 season when they did. Hawryluk decided he wanted to talk about his story to show that anyone is susceptible to this illness. "I’m a professional athlete, I train all the time, I play hockey all the time, I’m in top shape and I still got it," he said. "No matter what, it can still come in contact with you. I wanted to help people take it seriously, take safety measures, look after yourself and do all the little things to try and stay healthy." He feels completely recovered now and he's maintained a relatively normal offseason routine. Jul 23 4:13 pm (EST)
