The defenseman looked like he had some fantasy value based on his end of the season in 2019-20 and ended up with a goal and 12 points in 30 games but he is now a seven-eight defenseman with the Senators and will likely find himself in and out of the lineup in the foreseeable future.

Stepan arrived late in the Senators camp and only hit the ice for the first time on Sunday but he was on the top line with Tim Stutzle and Evgenii Dadonov. He had only 28 points in 70 games with Arizona last season and he will need to start scoring a lot better than that to have any fantasy relevance this season.

After not scoring with the man-advantage at all in 2019-20, it took Chabot less than a period in the 2020-21 season to find the back of the net on the power play. Chabot is a strong offensive leader with the Senators and is expected to quarterback the power play the entire season. He should have went in your fantasy pool but if not, take him now.

Norris was drafted 19th overall in 2017 by the Sharks and came to the Senators in the Erik Karlsson trade. He played three games for the Senators last season but Friday night was the first time he hit the scoresheet. Norris is playing on the second line with Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson and the trio combined for seven points against the Maple Leafs. Norris is worth looking at in deep leagues at this time.

Coach Claude Julien was impressed by the debut of Alexander Romanov.

Julien was so impressed that he used Romanov and Brett Kulak, his third defense pairing, against the Maple Leafs top line at times Wednesday. “There’s a confidence of a player and I think he’s got lots of it,” Julien said about Romanov. “We’ve mentioned that many times. He really feels that he can play at this level and feels he’s ready and nothing seems to faze him. “There’s always what you call the ignorance side of it, right,” the coach added. “He doesn’t know any better. He knows players, but he doesn’t have that fear in him yet because he hasn’t seen some of the things that some of these players can bring. But tomorrow (Saturday) when he sees a McDavid use his speed I think he’ll realize that the one thing he can’t do is get caught up the ice. So sometimes ignorance is a good thing and sometimes the experience of playing against some of these players eventually will bring a little bit more light, I guess, to some of the things he’s not aware of yet.”

Smith missed Thursday's opener and is slated to start on the third line with Nick Ritchie and Charlie Coyle. His return to the lineup will change plenty for the Bruins among the forward group as Anders Bjork replaced him on Thursday and one of Bjork, Jack Studnicka or Trent Frederic would have to come out of the lineup. Stay tuned as Smith, an unrestricted free agent signing in the off-season, could make his Bruins debut Saturday.
