Although the Calgary Flames hung in there for most of Monday's game, they ultimately fell short against Toronto.

The Flames tied the contest at 2-2 and 3-3 in the third period before losing 5-3. It wasn't a terrible contest for Calgary, but given that the Flames have now lost eight of their last nine games, it's not surprising that the team isn't happy with just keeping things close. “It’s pretty frustrating,” Andrew Mangiapane said. “We tie it up in the third and then we let it slip away again. It’s a common theme right now. It’s frustrating. We work hard, start getting our game going to tie it up and start playing good hockey and then it just kind of crumbles for us.” With a 16-21-3 record, the Flames are eight points behind the fourth place Montreal Canadiens in the North Division despite having played in five more games. In other words, the odds of the Flames closing the gap and making the playoffs at this point are getting pretty slim. Apr 06 9:42 am (EST)
