It’s tough to win without a good quarterback. Take it from me. I took a chance and waited until late in my 14-team home league to grab a quarterback. I may be 4-1 through five weeks, but note that after just two weeks I was already scrambling to make a trade for a quarterback because I knew I would be in trouble otherwise. In your seasonal league, you have one of these five guys, you should feel very comfortable in Week 6, especially at the quarterback position. You’re only as good as your quarterback. I’m pretty sure that’s how the saying goes. If it isn’t, oh well, I tried.
Here are the top 5 quarterbacks for Week 6 of the NFL season.
Cam Newton @ NO
There isn’t much to say, since we all know how bad the New Orleans defense has been this season. Quarterbacks are averaging 312 yards and 1.25 touchdowns per game against this team. Carolina has been awfully bad this season, so expect Newton to take it into his own hands this week.
Tom Brady vs. CIN
Believe it or not, the Bengals are allowing just under one fantasy point per game than the New Orleans Saints this season. Opposing quarterbacks are averaging over two touchdowns per game and let’s be honest here, it’s freakin’ Tom Brady. He’s a QB1 and is staring down the barrel of another 300+ yards, 3 touchdown game.
Drew Brees vs. CAR
Carolina has allowed 10 total touchdowns to quarterbacks so far this season and we all know the problem for the Carolina defense lies at the cornerback position. Well, Drew Brees will attack them early and often, opening the door for a big time fantasy game. Both teams could, and probably will top 30 points in this one. 300 yards should be considered the floor for Brees in this one.
Ben Roethlisberger @ MIA
Over his last two games, Roethlisberger is averaging 340 yards and 4.5 touchdowns per contest. He has plenty of weapons at his exposure and simply put, Miami can’t contain him. Pittsburgh will likely get out big, but that doesn’t mean Big Ben stops throwing the football. Expect another QB1 week for the Pittsburgh gunslinger.
Russell Wilson vs. ATL
Likely due to injuries, Wilson hasn’t been running as much this season, but coming off the bye week, I expect that to change. The Falcons have been terrible against opposing quarterbacks this season, which likely means Wilson will sling it close to 35 times this weekend. I like him for at least a total of three touchdowns this week.
