Welcome to the Top 5 quarterbacks in Week 3 of the NFL season. We are starting to see some trends that we love to attack in both season-long leagues and daily formats. When analyzing the signal callers, attacking Atlanta, New Orleans and Detroit is always a great idea. Also, keep in mind that just because a team has a top cornerback or stud safety doesn’t make its defense impermeable. Just some food for thought. Anyways, here are your top 5 quarterbacks for Week 3 of the NFL season.

Drew Brees vs. ATL

Only two teams have allowed more fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks than the Atlanta Falcons. Combine that with the fact that the Saints throw the ball 71 percent of the time and you clearly understand why Brees is the top option in Week 3.

Andrew Luck vs. SD

Jason Verrett has been an elite corner this season, but the other San Diego defenders are very beatable. The Chargers have allowed, on average, the sixth-most fantasy points per game and seeing as San Diego is going to score some points in this one, Luck is going to have to win this game himself.

Cam Newton vs. MIN

Minnesota’s defense is pretty good, but come on, it’s Cam Newton. Jonathan Stewart isn’t going to play in this one, so Newton is likely going to have to pick up some extra slack in the ground game. Hello, extra fantasy points! Feel safe running him out there this week.

Matt Ryan @ NO

Consider quarterbacks against New Orleans as football’s version of picking pitchers against the San Diego Padres. Sure, New Orleans slowed down Eli Manning last week, but they are going to get roasted more often than not. Ryan has the second most passing yards in all of football and the Saints’ secondary has absolutely no answer for Julio Jones.

Aaron Rodgers vs. DET

Rodgers may have the 27th most passing yards this season, but he does have the ninth-most fantasy points at his position. He may be struggling, but a matchup with the Detroit Lions is just what the doctor ordered. The Lions have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season and you have to love Rodgers in a likely high-scoring affair.
