Dylan Strome was significantly better offensively as a center than winger in 2019-20.

In five-on-five play, Strome averaged 2.63 points per 60 minutes in his 40 games as a center compared to 1.46 points per 60 minutes in his 18 contests as a winger. “I think [Hawks coach Jeremy Colliton] knows I feel that I’m my comfortable at center,” Strome said. “My play showed that. It’s just different on wing; I’m not used to it. I feel like I can move the puck better at center, and have the puck more on my stick, and create some more plays.” The problem is that at center, Strome is competing with Jonathan Toews and Kirby Dach, which means that Strome would be penciled in on the third line. Ideally, he'd serve as a top-six forward, but if he's not productive while playing as a winger, then that significantly limits how Chicago can use him. That's something Chicago has to factor in with Strome set to become a restricted free agent this offseason. Sep 19 1:00 pm (EST)
