Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on Saturday that it's "very unlikely Dustin Byfuglien is going to play."
“Teams have asked," said Friedman. "One of the teams that have asked is the Minnesota Wild, they figured because Byfuglien has a lot of ties to Minnesota he’d want to play there and they could use him. They’re probably the only team that has a chance. But I checked with Byfuglien’s agent, Ben Hankinson, and he said it’s doubtful Byfuglien will play again." Byfuglien and the Winnipeg Jets mutually agreed to terminate his contract back on April 17, 2020, making him an unrestricted free agent. The 35-year-old blueliner missed the entire 2019-20 season after he underwent ankle surgery last October. If this is the end of his career, Byfuglien produced 177 goals and 525 points in 869 matches.
