🤔 NFL Training Camp Updates For Today, 8/13

Yesterday was full of news and rumors galore. Chicago Bears fans got a scare that they were going to be known as the Indiana Bears moving forward (thank goodness that was JUST a rumor), and veteran tight end Darren Waller signed with the Carolina Panthers to add yet another weapon for Bryce Young. Plus, unofficial depth charts and injuries shook up the fantasy football world. Today is more of the same, with more ambiguous position groups taking shape and injuries changing up some fantasy football ADPs, so without further ado, let’s dive into our NFL training camp report for today!

🏈 NFL Training Camp Live News - Jonathon Brooks Breakout Watch

Jonathon Brooks to Lead the Carolina Panthers Backfield

Hope you have been drafting Jonathon Brooks, because Year Three might finally be his year. Brooks entered the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but due to injuries, he has only had twelve total touches in his NFL career. Things might finally be looking up for Brooks, though, as he has been getting reps with the first team in Carolina Panthers training camp and has looked explosive doing so.

The Panthers are taking on the Buffalo Bills in Week One of the NFL Preseason, and Brooks will be starting that game as the clear-cut RB1. This is partially due to fellow running back Chuba Hubbard dealing with a hamstring injury that has him listed as “week-to-week.” That being said, Brooks has an opportunity in the preseason to establish himself as the Panthers’ lead back.

Star Quarterbacks Not Suiting Up for Preseason Week One

Each team handles the preseason a little differently. For some, every player sees the field at least a little every single week to get some valuable game-speed reps. For others, they know what they are getting from their starters and want to see some of the young guys step up. As for the Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and New Orleans Saints, they seem to fall under the latter, as they are all choosing to rest their starting quarterbacks at least for Week One of the preseason.

We already knew Patrick Mahomes would not be suiting up for preseason Week One, as we reported on last week in our NFL training camp report, but Caleb Williams, Matthew Stafford, Brock Purdy, and Tyler Shough are all now going to be on the sideline as well.

That being said, Buffalo Bills Head Coach Joe Brady is playing all of his healthy starters against the Carolina Panthers, including his superstar quarterback, Josh Allen.

📈Fantasy Football Winners Of The Day

Malik Nabers is Looking Healthy

Giants fans, rejoice. If you are not too bullish on tight end Isaiah Likely (like myself) and know what to expect from Darius Slayton, you are well aware that Malik Nabers’ health could make or break the New York Giants passing game. Lucky for fantasy football managers and Giants fans alike, he seems to be moving very well at NFL training camp and is expected to suit up in Week One.

Jordan Mason Shines for the Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings backfield left a lot to be desired last season, with Aaron Jones dealing with injuries and Jordan Mason unable to shoulder a whole workload on top of lackluster quarterback play. This season, things might be different, with Mason looking like a star in training camp.

The Minnesota Vikings are changing up their run scheme this season with the help of their new Assistant Head Coach Frank Smith. The outside zone scheme heavily leans into Jordan Mason’s strengths and could help him produce a fantasy football league-winning season. Someone to keep an eye on as a fantasy football training camp winner.

📉 Fantasy Football Losers Of The Day

Jordyn Tyson Injured and Facing Competition

Coming out of the 2026 NFL Draft, the sole concern on wide receiver Jordyn Tyson was his injury history. Today, Tyson had to leave New Orleans Saints training camp practice early due to a hamstring injury. While it is not considered “super serious,” it is still something to keep an eye on given his track record of injuries.

It is also worth noting that fellow rookie wide receiver Barion Brown has been providing highlight plays throughout Saints camp and reminds teammate Chris Olave of former Saints’ deep threat Rashid Shaheed.

Saquon Barkley Sidelined

New Philadelphia Eagles Offensive Coordinator Sean Mannion was excited to lean into running back Saquon Barkley as the identity of their offense. Now, that might be a little difficult with Barkley leaving practice early due to an ankle injury. Given the durability concerns of veteran running backs throughout the history of the NFL and the drop-off in production later in their careers, this is something to keep an eye on moving forward.

🩼 NFL Training Camp Injury Updates - Buffalo Bills Banged Up

When looking into an NFL training camp report, it is also important to stay up to date with all the injuries around the league and NFL Training Camp Live News.

Buffalo Bills Banged Up

When Joe Brady announced that Josh Allen and the starters would play in their preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers, he made sure to note that it would be his “healthy” starters, because there are quite a few banged up. C Connor McGovern, CB Maxwell Hairston, S Cole Bishop, DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and RB Ty Johnson all missed practice today due to injury. Hopefully the Bills will get healthy ahead of their Week One matchup against the Houston Texans on September 13th.
