2025 Season Recap

Carnell Tate was selected fourth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, carrying consensus WR1 status in his rookie class. In his final collegiate season, he proved to be a polished, pro-ready route runner with excellent size and after-the-catch ability. The Titans heavily invested in him to give quarterback Cam Ward a true alpha weapon immediately.

2026 Fantasy Outlook

Tate is consensus WR31 as the most anticipated rookie receiver in this class, and the camp reports back that up. He dominated OTAs and minicamp with highlight-reel grabs, and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has installed him as a Week 1 outside starter without much internal debate. His preseason debut was quiet, zero catches on three targets against San Francisco, and Tate cooled off some in the final two weeks of camp after a red-hot spring, but Cam Ward has stayed publicly confident in the connection and the two have kept connecting on touchdowns in practice, including a string of three straight scoring plays inside the 10 in one late-camp session. Landing alongside Ward in Tennessee creates one of the most intriguing Year 2 quarterback and rookie receiver pairings in recent memory. Calvin Ridley provides a veteran presence and Tony Pollard keeps the run game honest. If the Titans' offense takes the leap we think it can, Tate could be a WR2 or better by midseason. A sixth-round pick with legitimate upside that makes him worth the investment, with the normal rookie-camp cooling stretch as the only real red flag right now.
