NBA Best Bets Today, 10/31: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Friday
Three out of four bets were successful yesterday, and it has been a successful week for this column. When you’re hot, you’re hot, and the goal is to close out October with another profitable day. The data is rolling in, and Fantasy Alarm is utilizing it to build up the bankroll.
The Milwaukee Bucks won despite not having Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Orlando Magic won with ease, and Alex Sarr continued his impressive start to the season. Andrew Wiggins went slightly over his 4.5 rebounds, the only unsuccessful bet of the night. It is not “meatloaf”, but 75% success in the betting world, puts you in the realm of deity status.
It’s a spooky day across the country, and the NBA has an action-packed day scheduled. Not only are there eight primetime games on Halloween, but every game is an NBA Cup group game! The most exciting mid-season tournament across sports begins today. Will it be a trick or a treat for the 16 teams playing tonight? Let’s look at Fantasy Alarm’s NBA Best Bets today to find the winners.
NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 10/31
Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers Prediction: Friday 10/31
Game Time: 7:00 PM ET | TV: Prime | Location: Xfinity Mobile Arena | Odds: PHI -1.0 | O/U 233.5
- Prediction: PHI -1.0 (-110 FanDuel Sportsbook)
The Philadelphia 76ers have the most electrifying backcourt in the NBA, and this will be one of the first tests of their season. As of now, they are undefeated and atop of the Eastern Conference. Some may call it a surprise, but not Head Coach Nick Nurse, who saw something special with VJ Edgecombe the moment he walked in the arena.
Joel Embiid is capable of playing well, and should take advantage of a weak Boston Celtics front court. Embiid does not have an NBA championship, but an NBA Cup could be enough to push him into the Hall of Fame. His complete fall off the production cliff was not foreseen when he signed a massive contract. He needs to play well for the 76ers to beat the Celtics.
He does have a few good games remaining in him, and one of them should be against Boston in an NBA Cup group stage battle. Put a unit on this best bet, and expect the 76ers to cover the spread against the Celtics.
Denver Nuggets vs Portland Trail Blazers: Friday 10/31
Game Time: 10:00 PM ET | TV: NBA League Pass | Location: Moda Center| Odds: DEN -4.5 | O/U: 240.5
- Prediction: DEN Moneyline (-198 FanDuel Sportsbook) 2.0 Units
The Denver Nuggets have been rolling since their opening day road loss against the Golden State Warriors. They have won three games in a row, and each one was a blowout victory. One of them was a division win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and they can earn another against their rival, the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Trail Blazers are a much-improved team with a talented, young roster. They are 3-2 and have a point differential of +5.0. Led by two-time champion Jrue Holiday, they are playing with structure and energy. A rare combination. It won’t be enough to be victorious against the Nuggets, though.
Jamal Murray is playing at peak form, and that is dangerous for opponents. Usually, he plays himself into shape; this season, he is IN shape. It’s showing too, the pressure is off of Nikola Jokic to score 28+ points every night. Murray and Jokic are allocated more bench time, which allows them to play with more energy while on the court.
The depth of Denver’s bench is what is allowing the Nuggets' starters to leave the game early. All while increasing their lead. They are looking just as deep, if not deeper than their 2023 team. Put a double unit on this NBA best bet today, and look for the Nuggets to pull away in the second half.
NBA Prop Bets Today, 10/31
The Chicago Bulls are the best team in the Association, but no one seems to notice… or care. There is more chatter about former Bull, Michael Jordan’s 2-3 interview clips dropping on NBC. That is not fair to a team that has been under a lot of scrutiny this decade. Is this the season they finally win a playoff series? It’s too early to tell, but they should win their NBA Cup match against the New York Knicks.
The Knicks are in a state of flux, despite having almost an identical roster from last year’s Eastern Conference Finals team. The Knicks are favored to win this match despite being on the road, the Bulls being undefeated, and the Knicks being banged up across their roster. Don’t overthink an easy decision.
The Knicks are playing for an NBA Finals appearance; anything else is a step backward. The Bulls are seeking some, ANY, success. An appearance in the NBA Cup would exceed a low set bar. Put a unit on Chicago to stay undefeated. Put a unit on the plus odds best bet.
The Los Angeles Lakers travel to the crown jewel of the Mississippi River, “Graceland”. Memphis, Tennessee, that is. Land of the second-best BBQ in the land, and home of the Grizzlies. A perfect setting for an opening 2025 NBA Cup group stage game. One in which the Lakers are underdogs.
Those games are few and far between due to the Lakers being such a popular team. They won without Luka Doncic in Minnesota, and they can win with him against Memphis. As of now, he is listed as questionable, but the belief is that he will stand and deliver for the pride of an NBA Cup game. It’s just a left-handed finger injury anyway.
If not, Austin Reaves has played at an All-Star level this season. Memphis is the closest he gets to his home state of Arkansas, and the young man has been balling! Look for a better Lakers roster to defeat a Memphis roster that is still figuring each other out. Put a unit on this best bet.
