MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Starting Pitchers
MLB DFS Top Pitchers
Jose Soriano (LAA)
Analysis: The matchup does not get any better than this for Jose Soriano. His strikeouts and projection to get a win say it all. He's -148 to go OVER 6.5 strikeouts and -132 to get a WIN. Those are insane odds. The Rockies, per wRC+, are the worst offense in baseball against right-handed pitching.
Jacob deGrom (TEX)
Analysis: The Cardinals are right at league average against right-handed pitching. He has an elite ceiling and has nearly gotten up to 40 FP this year putting up 38 just a few starts ago. deGrom's 29.4% K-rate is higher than anyone else's on the main slate.
Joe Ryan (MIN)
Analysis: The White Sox are the epitome of league average against right-handed pitching considering they have a 100 wRC+. 100 is considered league average. Ryan just dominated the White Sox and has been elite over the last four starts. The White Sox strike out a bunch as their 23.9% K-rate vs. RHP is the fourth-highest in the league.
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Emerson Hancock (SEA)
Analysis: The Mets are a bad offense and are heading into a bad hitting environment. That's a big plus in Hancock's corner. The Mets are 30th in OPS and wOBA and 27th in wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Hancock's out performed his seasonal averages but he has a 25% K-rate and has had some big strikeout games.
Emmet Sheehan (LAD)
Analysis: This is a funny one because the Diamondbacks have really bad numbers against right-handed pitching but have two of the leagues hottest hitters in Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte. They rank 28th in wRC+ and wOBA and 27th in OPS against righties this year. Sheehan has a 27.2% K-rate and can really generate whiffs/
Top Options For Strikeouts
The three top strikeout targets in today's MLB DFS projections each carry a K/9 above 10.9 and favorable opponent strikeout splits. K-prop lines and value ratings are incorporated below for DFS and prop context. These are the arms building the highest strikeout ceilings on the nine-game slate.
Our model identifies these arms as the highest-ceiling plays for Alt-K lines today:
Jacob deGrom: 29.4% K% (10.6 K/9)
Joe Ryan: 27.5% K% (9.8 K/9)
Landen Roupp: 27.4% K% (10.2 K/9)
Emmet Sheehan: 27.2% K% (10.3 K/9)
Jose Soriano: 27% K% (9.8 K/9)
Best Odds For A Win
The following MLB DFS picks offer a combination of favorable win odds, sustainable ERA and xFIP metrics, and soft opponent matchups. Each carry K-prop lines worth noting alongside their DFS value at reduced ownership relative to the top tier.
- Jose Soriano -132
- Joe Ryan +110
- Emmet Sheehan +114
- Jacob deGrom +122
MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Stacks & Hitters
MLB DFS Top Hitters
Mike Trout & Zach Neto (OF/SS, LAA)
Analysis: Kyle Freeland has struggled getting outs this year, especially righties as they've posted a .283 ISO and .436 wOBA against him. Neto has a .179 ISO and .370 wOBA while Trout has a .240 ISO and .395 wOBA against southpaws.
JJ Bleday (OF, CIN)
Analysis: The Royals are trying to convert Luinder Avila into a traditional starter and he's been bad this season. Lefties have given him a ton of issues posting a .173 ISO, .192 xISO, and .416 wOBA. Bleday has a .368 ISO and .437 wOBA vs. RHP.
Mookie Betts (SS, LAD)
Analysis: Betts has flashed a ton of power against left-handed pitching this year posting a .286 ISO. His .253 ISO suggests it isn't luck and he has a .307 wOBA but .347 xwOBA.
Brandon Nimmo (OF, TEX)
Analysis: I will play anyone and everything against Michael McGreevy because he's been one of the league's luckiest pitchers. He has a .171 ISO and .292 wOBA but a .276 xISO and .381 xwOBA. Nimmo has a .171 ISO but .283 xISO and .345 wOBA and .422 xwOBA.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Jo Adell & Oswald Peraza (OF/2B, LAA)
Analysis: Jo Adll absolutely smashes left-handed pitching this year. Adell has a .317 ISO, .344 xISO, .381 wOBA, and .431 xwOBA vs. LHP this year. Peraza has been good as well, notching a .306 ISO, .247 xISO, .409 wOBA, and .365 xwOBA against southpaws. Freeland has struggled mightily against righty bats.
Nathaniel Lowe (1B, CIN)
Analysis: It's the year of previously underperforming players turned into stud Reds. Nathaniel Lowe has a .340 ISO and .446 wOBA vs. RHP. The ballpark is elite and he faces off against a struggling right-hander.
Will Smith (C, LAD)
Analysis: Will Smith has had an entire career of mashing left-handed pitching and I'm not letting 46 plate appearances get in the way of that.
MLB DFS Top Stacks
Primary Stack: Los Angeles Angels vs Kyle Freeland (COL LHP)
Why: Kyle Freeland hasn't been able to get lefties out, he hasn't been able to get righties out. He hasn't pitched well at home and he hasn't pitched well on the road. Both righties and lefties are hitting .330 or better against him. He has an 8.05 ERA or worse at home on the road. The Angels have some good stuff against lefties, especially Mike Trout, Zach Neto, Jo Adell, Vaughn Grissom, Oswald Peraza, Jorge Soler, and Logan O'Hoppe.
Primary Stack: Cincinnati Reds vs Luinder Avila (KC RHP)
Why: Luinder Avila is getting moved into the rotation and he has struggled against both splits this year. Lefties have a .173 ISO and .192 xISO against him while righties have a .161 ISO and .374 wOBA. The Reds are with Elly De La Cruz, but are in their home ballpark and their lineup is pretty cheap all around. Blake Dunn, Nathaniel Lowe, JJ Bleday, Eugenio Suarez, Sal Stewart, and Spencer Steer are the primary pieces.
Primary Stack: Los Angeles Dodgers vs Eduardo Rodriguez (ARI LHP)
Why: The Dodgers lead the way with the most ownership by a mile. The top four rostered players of the day are Dodgers and six of the top eight play for LAD. Some of the underlying metrics for ERod don't look great, especially lefty power as he's only allowed a .108 ISO but a .205 xISO. Shohei Ohtani, Kyle Tucker, and Freddie Freeman stand out from the left side and Mookie Betts, Will Smith, and Andy Pages from the right.
"Contrarian" Stack: Texas Rangers vs Michael McGreevy (STL RHP)
Why: Michael McGreevy's luck seems to be running out. He's struggled the last two starts and his underlying numbers are very, very bad. The Rangers lefties look better but the righties look good too. Brandon Nimmo and Joc Pederson stand out from the left side while Jake Burger, Ezequiel Duran, and Josh Jung are the primary right-handed plays.
MLB DFS Lineups: Core MLB DFS Hitters & Pitchers

| Soriano (SP, chalk) | Ryan (SP, similar tier) | Elite strikeout arm in strikeout spot. |
