We have a full MLB slate on Tuesday, so it’s time to hit those MLB Best Bets and Prop Bets for today! If you’ve noticed, we’ve been doing a little more volume betting in our MLB picks lately as we get back to where we need to be on the season.

We are isolating games we feel we have a good read on and attacking where we can find both strong bets and quality value bets. In yesterday’s MLB predictions writeup, we missed on our run-line bets, but we hit a few of our plus-money prop bets which allowed us to turn a small profit.

You’re always going to have some surprises, so don’t get discouraged. Who knew the Rockies would wake up against Zac Gallen? It’s still early in the season and water needs to find its own level. We got this! So, let’s take a look at where we want to spread our action out today, which features a few different MLB props.

  • Yesterday’s Record: 4-3
  • Season Record: 26-30
  • Bankroll: -6.51 units

*The MLB odds associated with each pick will be listed alongside the selection.

MLB Best Bets & Prop Bets For Today: Tuesday, April 9

Marlins vs. Yankees Prediction Today, 4/9

We targeted Marlins lefty AJ Puk the last time he rolled out there and we’re ready to go back to the well. He has struggled mightily out of the gate and has yet to pitch beyond the fourth inning. His command is way off as he’s now walked nine batters over six innings while allowing six earned runs.

The Yankees have been incredibly patient at the plate and currently lead the league in walks, so working the count against Puk should not be a problem. Neither should capitalizing on the base runners they’ll have, which means we’re going to see them score some runs. But with Carlos Rodon on the mound, I am hesitant to invest in game totals or even run lines.

Obviously, there’s no value here on the money line. Rodon could be lights-out and blank the Marlins completely or we could get the Rodon we all watched through the spring when balls were flying out of the park on a regular basis. As it pertains to MLB picks for today and betting this game, we’ll stick to two things – Puk’s lack of command and the Yankees' bats.

Dodgers vs. Twins Prediction Today, 4/9

Betting on the Dodgers bats has already been incredibly fruitful this season, and today’s MLB predictions will continue to ride that train. Tyler Glasnow is already making his fourth start of the season and has been working his way into mid-season form, ramping up his pitch-count and seeing that K:BB ratio improve steadily.

The Twins bats have been a bit of a mess, striking out 27.2% of the time and posting just a .257 wOBA against righties this season. They also haven’t hit for any real power, as evidenced by the .102 ISO mark.

On the other side, the Twins are throwing Louie Varland who really labored through his first start. It took him 89 pitches to get through four innings and he allowed three earned runs, including one home run. The Dodgers lineup is ridiculously loaded and these lefty bats are going to tear into him early. We’ll see how long he lasts, but we’re going to roll with LA jumping on him from the start.

Diamondbacks vs. Rockies Prediction Today, 4/9

To cap off my MLB picks today, we’re heading right back to the well even though we missed with that Diamondbacks run-line bet. Very surprising to see the DBacks held somewhat in check by Kyle Freeland, but these Arizona bats are still plenty fired up and now get righthander Cal Quantrill, who has been brutalized already this season, once by Arizona and then again by the Cubs.

He’s coughed up nine earned runs over nine innings and has allowed 13 hits and five walks. The Diamondbacks have had a full day to adjust to the altitude and should be ready to pounce early in this game.
