It’s a new week and we’re ready to win some money with our MLB Best Bets and Prop Bets for today! The further we get into the 2024 MLB season, the more data we have, the more we see players finding their way into mid-season form, and the deeper our research gets for these daily MLB picks.

After a 4-3 Friday that helped us chip away at our current deficit, I took the weekend off to clear my head a little – something I always recommend to everyone. Taking a step back is necessary sometimes. You don’t HAVE TO bet every day and if you are trying to build – or in some cases, rebuild – your bankroll, it’s always important to make sure you are heading into a slate with fresh eyes and a clear attitude.

That’s where I am right now and ready to get back to work. Big thanks to Dan Servodidio for jumping in over the weekend. He’ll be back again on Saturday. Now, let’s see what MLB props and predictions look good for today, April 8!

  • Friday’s Record: 4-3
  • Season Record: 22-27
  • Bankroll: -7.29 units

*The MLB odds associated with each pick will be listed alongside the selection.

Mets vs. Braves Prediction Today, 4/8

I have to start my MLB predictions for today with the game in Atlanta. I mean, is anyone else laughing at the Mets for signing and starting Julio Teheran today? I joked about the “revenge game narrative” on the MLB DFS Preview Show, but I have a very tough time believing the aging righty has much to offer against a Braves team that just swept the Diamondbacks, is averaging seven runs per game this season, and has a .462 wOBA with just a 19% K-rate against righthanders.

It’s difficult to think the Braves aren’t going to pile on during this game, especially with a 10-run game total. Vegas seems to believe they’ll clear the six-run threshold based on the odds, so we’re happy to back them. There’s no value on the money line, but I'm happy to forego my usual stance of not giving runs with the home team. Charlie Morton should be able to limit the struggling Mets lineup, enough for at least a two-run victory.

Diamondbacks vs. Rockies Prediction Today, 4/8

The last time the Diamondbacks faced Kyle Freeland, it was that 16-1 soul-crushing game where he didn’t even make it out of the third. His next outing came against the Cubs, and they thrashed him for seven runs before he left in the middle of the fourth inning. You’re telling me at home, in Coors Field, Freeland isn’t going to experience some PTSD? I could see him being afraid to throw strikes which should put runners on base and once that happens, the floodgates should open.

Arizona is sporting a .384 wOBA against southpaws this season and they’re striking out less than 16% of the time, so look for the hitters to really work the count. And with Zac Gallen on the bump, I don’t expect the Rockies hitters to put up much of a fight. We’ll back the Arizona bats while picking on Freeland a little bit to finalize my official MLB picks today.
