Washington GM Brian MacLellan has spoken with Brenden Dillon's reps about a possible contract extension with the team.
MacLellan said on Friday that the two sides will continue to talk. Dillon has mentioned that he would like to stay with the Capitals if possible. He was acquired from the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 18 and skated in 10 matches with his new club prior to the pause of the 2019-20 season. Jul 31 12:17 pm (EST)
- The Sharks have traded Dillon to the Capitals for a 2020 second-round pick and a 2021 conditional third-round pick. The Sharks retained 50 percent of his $3.270 million cap hit.
- Dillon managed an assist, four hits and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Oilers.
