2022 Player Outlook

Despite playing in Las Vegas as a backup to Derek Carr, the Raiders tried to incorporate Marcus Mariota in short-yardage situations to make plays with his legs. Unfortunately, this is what it will most likely look like in Atlanta with him under center. In his career, Mariota has had to scramble to make plays, he typically has a lower average depth of target, and he tends to get injured, never playing a full season in his seven year career. The Atlanta offensive line is still ranked near the bottom of the league, and Mariota is going to take some hits as a result. It remains to be seen whether he starts the entire season barring injury with Desmond Ridder in the wings. Mariota isn't worth a spot on your bench.
