Active BYE Week: QB
Denver Broncos

Brett Rypien completed 19-of-32 passes for 242 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in the Broncos' 37-38, Week 4 win over the Jets.

Rypien "added" five carries for -5 yards, also absorbing an unruly number of personal fouls from Gregg Williams' dirty defense. Rypien was in rhythm for parts of the second and third quarters but was otherwise a turnover machine lucky to escape with "only" three picks. His "biggest play" was a 48-yard touchdown strike to Jerry Jeudy that should have easily been intercepted by Pierre Desir. Desir later returned the favor with a pair of INTs, one of which he housed for six. Rypien was particularly poor throwing to the sidelines, tossing a pair of interceptions into a swarm of Jets and a third INT on an attempted throwaway. Bad, bad, bad. Rypien had occasional confidence and decisiveness, but nothing about this performance suggested he was worthy of another start, let alone an extended cameo. Knowing full well what they have in Jeff Driskel, it is still possible the Broncos go back to Rypien as their Week 5 sacrificial lamb vs. the Patriots.   Oct 01 11:47 pm (EST)
