Welcome into another week of hockey action on the Fantasy Alarm NHL Playbook this Tuesday! Happy Frozen Frenzy day to all that celebrate as all 32 teams in the NHL will be in action tonight! We are excited to bring you this article/playbook every single day and can't wait to help everyone continue to win their hockey contests.

If you are new here, then let me say welcome to Fantasy Alarm and thank you for checking out our top-tier NHL coverage! I will also tell you that early-season betting in this sport is all about slow rolling and data collection. Unlike most sports, hockey teams turn over a great deal in the offseason, from coaches to goalies and different forward lines. No two seasons are the same, so when you place your bets in these opening weeks, keep BANKROLL MANAGEMENT in mind. You will see many bets to start this NHL season are a quarter unit or half unit; that is by design!

This is your one-stop shop for everything DFS-related for tonight's 12-game slate! We are in the first full month of the NHL season, so let's get out there and make it count. There are many games to choose from and many ways to make a winning lineup! We have some very good matchups to cover, so let’s get into the action.

For the NHL Bets, there are plenty of angles to attack on the slate, and some spots might surprise you! Check out the wagers and if you like the rationale, then tail them. You can find all wagers here on the NHL Bet Tracker.

NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today 10/13

Vancouver Canucks vs. New York Islanders: Tuesday, October 13th

As many predicted in the preseason it appears the Canucks are going to be among the worst teams in the NHL again this season. They are 2-5-0 out of the gate and they have been getting squashed during this four game losing streak being outscored 20 to 7. They are on the road today against the Islanders and I don't see their prospects improving.

While the Islanders aren't a prolific offensive team they do play good hockey at home and overall through five games they've given up just six goals at even strength. I would expect Ilya Sorokin to be in net tonight as well which improves their chances of grabbing the win. Sorokin in four starts has a 1.76 GAA and .937 SV% which includes a shutout on his resume.

I don't have enough confidence to back the Islanders on the spread tonight given the scoring issues but their defense against this lowly Canucks team should be enough to propel them to victory so let's take them to win in regulation on the 60-minute Money Line to improve our odds a bit while still supporting the Islanders.

  • Pick: Islanders 60-Min ML (-125 on DraftKings) Half-Unit Play

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Utah Mammoth: Tuesday, October 13th

On a slate like today with 16 games make sure to watch some of this matchup tonight as it figures to be on of the highest scoring games on the table. The total is of course 6.5 goals but with Toronto in this game and all that entails it could honestly be set higher.

The Leafs are facing their usual issues as last season, there's no defense and no goaltending to be found. They've seen their last trio of games total 25 total goals and the Mammoth figure to be a perfect dance partner to continue that pace. The Maple Leafs have given up 15 even strength goals this season and the Mammoth have 16.66 expected goals through their six games.

The Mammoth are better on defense than the opposition tonight but they are expected to allow just under two goals per game when skating 5 on 5. That number puts them around league average and considering the Leafs have scored 14 goals in the last three games they should score enough to push things over. Mammoth are on watch for four plus goals and the Leafs should net their usual three per game. That's seven expected goals and that people is an over!

  • Pick: Maple Leafs & Mammoth Over 6.5 (-115 on FanDuel) Half-Unit Play

Best NHL Prop Bets & Other Picks: Today 10/13

  • Penguins ML (-140 on Caesars) Half-Unit Play
  • Bobby McMann Over 2.5 Shots (-115 on DraftKings) Half Unit Play
  • Golden Knights ML (-125 on BetMGM) Half Unit Play
  • Oilers ML (-125 on Caesars) Half Unit Play

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day: Ilya Sorokin, NYI

I wrote about this in the best bets portion while taking the Islanders to win but again they are huge favorites. Sorokin has been standing on his head and the Canucks have little offense, no brainer here for me.

Player of The Day: Connor McDavid, EDM

With Nathan MacKinnon and Macklin Celebrini facing tougher matchups the buck stops tonight with McDavid. He is on his way to another big season with 13 points in five games played and the Kings allow the 6th most DFS points to centers on the season, fire up the MVP.

Value Play of The Day: Ben Kindel, PIT

The Penguins are taking on the Blackhawks today in a sneaky good spot as the Blackhawks are falling apart already this season. Kindel is in the 4k range but is on the top powerplay unit so getting exposure to Crosby at this price is fantastic. He also has four points in five games as well.

Defenseman Play of the Day: Matthew Schaefer, NYI

More love on the Islanders for me today as the Canucks are straight booty. They allow the 2nd most DFS points to blue liners this season and Schaefer is long over due for his first goal of the season, I bet its tonight.

Top Stack of the Day: Mammoth Forward Line 1

The Mammoth offense is for real and the top line has been a big part of it. The groups have shuffled a bit this season but today's trio of Nick Schmaltz, Clayton Keller and Lawson Crouse takes the cake for me against this Maple Leafs defense that is not great.
