CFB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets: Saturday, 10/10
Our CFB best bets today start with Oregon hosting UCLA in a Top 25 Big Ten showdown. Plus, Texas A&M takes on Missouri in an SEC matchup. Check out more CFB picks below for the rest of this Saturday’s action. Good luck!
UCLA vs. Oregon Prediction: Saturday, October 10th
Georgia vs. Alabama is this week’s headliner. However, the Big Ten brings us another Top 25 clash as #13 Oregon hosts #21 UCLA. It may be tempting to back the Bruins as double-digit underdogs, but the Ducks are the pick for our CFB best bets today. Let’s take Oregon to cover the spread while winning comfortably.
UCLA’s 4-0 start is impressive at first glance, but it’s also benefited from a soft schedule. The Bruins own double-digit victories against Maryland, Purdue, and California this year. However, those are all subpar teams. Plus, UCLA ranks 113th nationally in strength of schedule.
Conversely, Oregon is much more battle-tested. The Ducks rank 21st in strength of schedule. Their double-digit road win at USC two weeks ago is a better victory and opponent than any of UCLA’s. Oregon’s victory over Boise State, though closer than expected, is also aging well with how good the Broncos look. The upset loss to Oklahoma State is the only blemish, but the Cowboys are rising up the power ratings.
Oregon has a prime opportunity for a statement win at home over a ranked opponent. The Ducks will have to do it without star quarterback Dante Moore, who’s out with a concussion. Even so, backup Dylan Raiola is a formidable replacement. He stepped in and threw for 289 yards and 2 touchdowns in that win over USC. Raiola brings plenty of experience from his time at Nebraska, and the former top recruit has tons of talent. He’ll also benefit from a full two weeks to prepare, as Oregon is coming off a bye.
The Ducks’ offense will be tough for UCLA to stop. The Bruins’ defense grades out well on paper, but it also hasn’t faced the toughest tests yet. In their two hardest matchups so far, they allowed 38 points and 488 total yards to Purdue and 24 points and 410 total yards to Cal.
All in all, Oregon will score too much for UCLA to hang around and keep it close. The Bruins have a strong rushing attack, but the passing game has struggled at times. They rank 88th nationally in EPA/Pass and 90th in passing success rate. Those struggles will be amplified if/when UCLA trails and needs to throw to come back.
The Ducks should win this game by 10+ points. As of this writing, Oregon is favored by 11.5 points. Let’s buy that spread down to 9.5 at solid odds on FanDuel for our CFB best bets. That gives us some protection if it’s just a 10-point victory, instead of 12 or more.

Texas A&M vs. Missouri Prediction: Saturday, October 10th
Let’s turn our attention to the SEC for more CFB best bets today. Missouri is coming off an impressive 45-17 win over Florida last week, and the Tigers are ranked 14th in the latest AP poll. Meanwhile, Texas A&M is 3-2 amid a sluggish start to the season. Common sense would say take Mizzou, but the underdog Aggies are the play.
We can sell high a bit on Missouri after last week’s big win. The Tigers could be in for a slight letdown, especially in a sandwich spot. They take on #9 Ole Miss next week with plenty of playoff implications. In between, Texas A&M looms as a potential trap matchup.
It wasn’t that long ago when the Aggies began the year at No. 8 in the preseason AP rankings. Then they lost at home to Kentucky and suffered a blowout at LSU. Public perception of Texas A&M is understandably way down, but this team still has the talent to compete with the SEC’s top tier.
The big deciding matchup will come down to how much A&M can slow down Missouri’s potent offense. The Tigers are averaging 37.6 points per game and rank 39th nationally in total yards per contest. Quarterback Austin Simmons is playing at a high level, and tailback Jamal Roberts just ran for 211 yards against Florida.
Texas A&M, though, should be up for the challenge. The Aggies rank 25th in the country in defensive success rate and 29th in defensive EPA/Play. The defense is especially strong against the run, which can make Mizzou a bit one-dimensional if Roberts isn’t as effective on the ground as last week.
Meanwhile, the A&M offense can hang around with its own rushing attack. The Aggies rank 9th nationally in rushing success rate with workhorse back Rueben Owens II and dual-threat QB Marcel Reed providing the 1-2 punch. Missouri has a strong defense that just bottled up Florida RB Jadan Baugh. However, the same unit also allowed 499 total yards (139 rushing) in the loss to Mississippi State two weeks ago.
There’s value on Texas A&M to keep this close, and the Aggies are also live to pull the outright upset. Let’s take them to cover the 3.5-point spread for our CFB best bets. It’s worth noting that A&M has crushed Missouri in recent meetings. The past three matchups have been 38-17, 41-10, and 35-14 results in the Aggies’ favor.
