NFL DFS Week 5 Picks, Projections & Playbook For DraftKings & FanDuel
Published: Oct 10, 2026
Welcome to Week 5 of the 2026 NFL regular season! Absolutely amazing how fast the season is already flying by. We spend so much time preparing for the regular season and in the blink of an eye, it’s gone. And I don’t even think I’m being dramatic. Week 5. Yeesh. Let’s get it!
We have arrived at the start of bye weeks, giving us an action-packed 11-game Sunday main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel. With the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers taking their off weeks, along with an early morning London showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars, the available player pool shifts dramatically. Compounding this condensed slate is the fact that a massive portion of the league's top fantasy stars are unavailable for main slate consideration. Marquee powerhouses like the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams, and Atlanta Falcons are locked into prime-time games on Sunday and Monday night, while the Dallas Cowboys and all their supposed talent, lost on Thursday night to Tampa Bay. Selecting top DFS NFL picks requires digging deep into matchup advantages and tracking high-value usage across the remaining Sunday afternoon games.
Before diving into our top DFS NFL picks for Week 5, let’s build on the incredible momentum from Week 4! Our DFS Playbook and Dart Board recommendations delivered monster upside across all contest formats. Top core recommendations like Kyren Williams smashed value through heavy volume, while Nico Collins exploded downfield to slate-breaking numbers. Even better, our GPP tournament Dart Board hit on massive bargain plays, highlighted by Jameis Winston providing incredible point-per-dollar output, Emanuel Wilson carving out high-efficiency touches, and Isaiah Williams serving as a dominant punt receiver option. We're keeping that exact same analytical focus locked in to help you build winning lineups this week.

With fewer games on the main slate, game-stacking and target-share concentration become the ultimate differentiators in both cash games and tournaments. NFL Weather: Week 5 DFS Impact
Weather conditions across the October 11 Sunday main slate are generally favorable, which should be beneficial for NFL DFS Week 5, but a couple of outdoor eastern venues require attention before locking in lineups:
- Cincinnati Bengals at Miami Dolphins -- A slim chance for some rain and a 10mph sustained wind. Pretty typical stuff for south Florida.
- Cleveland Browns at New York Jets -- Rain looks likely. It may not ever be a true downpour, but even a steady light-to-moderate rain is enough to impact the offense.
- Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans -- It continues to look like all of the rain comes pregame, and we're dry by gametime. Winds are slightly breezy, maybe 10+mph sustained, gusts 15-20mph, but that's not enough to really impact things.
- Indianapolis Colts at Pittsburgh Steelers -- Pretty good shot for in-game rain here. More details to come Sunday morning.
- New York Giants at Washington Commanders -- Another game with pretty legit rain chances. Expect in-game rain here, the extent of that rain is still TBD, but we should have a much better idea late Saturday and/or early Sunday.

NFL DFS Week 5 Picks: Howard Bender's Favorites
Before you start building lineups off of these core plays, understand that this is really just a primer for the full player pool. Scroll further down and you will see the full list of my own personal NFL DFS Week 5 player pool. I’ve spent this entire week studying everything about the upcoming matchups as well as everything we've witnessed over the first four weeks of the NFL season. I have combed through our NFL DFS projections and put together a list of candidates around which I am building most, and in some cases, all of my lineups.
Still, people have asked me for my favorites, as if you don't already know reading the DFS Watch List and listening to me on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio as well as both the DFS Show and Alarm Fantasy Football. We’ve had numerous discussions regarding how to handle the Detroit Lions/Arizona Cardinals chalk and I’m willing to bet you already know who some of my favorite NFL DFS Week 5 picks are already. If you don’t already have an idea, then here is where I highlight a few from a variety of categories.
One caveat – this in no way means that all of my lineups will consist of these players. Don't freak out if I post an example lineup or, even better, a lineup that cashed well, that doesn't include some of these players. Will they be in a lot of them? Absolutely. But in the time between posting this Playbook and the first Sunday kickoff, things can change. Ownership percentages can change. Weather can change. Gut feelings can change. These might be some of my favorite NFL DFS Week 5 picks, but this is a guideline, not the gospel.
