Tonight’s NBA schedule comes to a close with our NBA DFS showdown slate in Los Angeles as the Timberwolves take on the Clippers. We do have to keep an eye on D’Angelo Russell’s status as he is dealing with a knee contusion, but aside from that, the teams should be relatively close to full strength (aside from Karl-Anthony Towns’ extended option). Let us jump right into some options to consider to finish the night in the green.

Injuries

Minnesota Timberwolves

Karl-Anthony Towns – Out

D’Angelo Russell – Questionable (knee)

Jordan McLaughlin – Out

Taurean Prince - Out

Los Angeles Clippers

Norman Powell – Out

NBA DFS Showdown Slate Picks

MVP/Captain

Paul George, Los Angeles Clippers

George is coming off a poor shooting night on Monday, but thanks to the sheer volume of his shot attempts (22) he made up for the fact that just eight of them were successful as he still finished with 22 points. If it is upside you are after, George has the most of it on tonight’s slate, and the price could be worse. George is shooting 45.3% from the field this year as he struggles to find consistency with his shot, and it can be hard to know what version of him we will get.

Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves

The hope here is that Edwards picks up the slack, both for Towns and then for Russell if he is sidelined, but six of 16 from the field simply is not going to cut it. Edwards is averaging a solid 22.7 points per game on the season, but 5.6 rebounds and four assists per game does not give us the cover we generally expect from this spot. With that being said, he is Minnesota’s best player.

Rudy Gobert, Minnesota Timberwolves

What you see is what you get here, and Gobert is playing some of his best basketball of the season as he is a consistent offensive threat while also pounding the boards. In his last five games, Gobert is averaging 16.8 points and 13.4 rebounds per game, and I am not sure we should expect much different tonight.

Utility

Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles Clippers

Here we go, this is what we have been waiting for from Leonard. The forward finally appears to be healthy and finished with his best game of the season on Monday. Leonard is not going to shoot 10 of 12 from the field on a nightly basis, but seeing him score 25 points along with nine rebounds and six assists should not be all that surprising.

Jaylen Nowell, Minnesota Timberwolves

With 11.2 points per game off the bench this season, Nowell can score and the current state of Minnesota (Towns being out) helps create that need. In his last five games, Nowell is averaging 13.4 points per game, and if Russell is out, then we truly have a chalk situation on our hands.

Kyle Anderson, Minnesota Timberwolves

Anderson is the stereotypical compiler, and now that he is getting a fair amount of regular playing time, that puts him right on our radar. The problem, is that we still get stuck with some “empty” games as what transpired Monday with Anderson finishing with just nine points, five assists, and one rebound in 28 minutes of action. There is some risk here, but the price is right and Anderson could easily finish in the 30 to 40 DK point range as in the game prior, he scored 14 points to go along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Dart Throw

Luke Kennard, Los Angeles Clippers

I would like to see Kennard a little cheaper here, but he has played between 20 and 26 minutes in each of his last four games. At 46% from the field this year, Kennard has not had the best shooting campaign, but he did hit double figures in each of his last two games.

Jaden McDaniels, Minnesota Timberwolves

The fact that McDaniels is averaging 28.5 minutes per game in his last five is awfully close to taunting us as he is averaging just 8.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in that stretch. Overall, McDaniels is at 10.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game on the season, so there is a little something to work with at the back end of your roster.
