Today’s MLB DFS coverage is for the 8-game main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that starts at 7:05 pm ET. We do not have Coors Field on the slate, so you don’t have to worry about that when setting lineups. Starting pitching has three headliner names in Zac Gallen, Dylan Cease, and Nestor Cortes, but we also have a pretty deep pool overall for pitching today. We don’t have any mlb weather concerns today, which always makes for a more enjoyable experience. Henry is on the playbook today, make sure to give that a read, and don’t forget to check out all of our MLB DFS Tools. Let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day and some we can fit into our cash and tournament lineups!

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Anthony DeSclafani, San Francisco Giants (DraftKings: $8,100)

He is the 2nd most expensive pitcher on FanDuel, but 8th on DK, so it’s easy to like him on DK, especially when you consider the fact that he is averaging the second most points per game on today’s slate (only behind Zac Gallen, who is the top priced player and over 2k more expensive). He has a 2.13 ERA with a 0.82 WHIP thus far and gets a decent matchup against the Nationals today. They don’t score a lot of runs, but they also don’t strikeout a lot, which limits his upside a bit.

Jake Irvin, Washington Nationals (DraftKings: $5,000)

On the other side of DeSclafani, we have Irvin. He is far riskier, but also far cheaper. Irvin pitched OK in his debut a few days ago, firing 4.1 innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts in a no-decision. He finished with 9.6 dk points, which is far from exciting, but at this price it’s not that bad. He gets to pitch in a pitchers park tonight with a favorable matchup against the Giants, so I can get behind him as a risky, money-saving, SP2 on DK.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Matt Mervis, 1B, Chicago Cubs (DraftKings: $2,200 / FanDuel: $2,300)

Mervis has gotten off to a solid start, going 4-14 through his first three games with two RBI and scoring at least 5 dk points in all three games. Today he faces Miles Mikolas, who has been pretty terrible this season with a 5.79 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. Lefties have slashed .328/.373/.567 against him this season, so this is a good spot for Mervis to have that big breakout game that he hasn’t had yet (albeit he has played fine).

Gleyber Torres, 2B, New York Yankees (FanDuel: $2,800)

Torres is finding a groove with at least 7 dk points in three straight games now. He is not cheap on DraftKings, but we get a very nice price on FD. I like the Yankees today as JP Sears is not good and has a 5.06 ERA thus far this season, so I don’t expect Torres to slow down today. Torres is due for a long ball and/or a steal and today seems like a pretty good time for one of those (or both) to happen.

Harrison Bader, OF, New York Yankees (DraftKings: $3,500 / FanDuel: $2,700)

I had Bader in here yesterday and boy did he explode for us, going 3-5 with a home run, a triple, two RBI, and three runs scored to finish with 31 DK points. He has now scored 18, 10, and 31 points over his last three games… and yet for some reason he is now $100 cheaper than he was yesterday. And as mentioned in Torres’ section, Sears has been awful and is simply not a good pitcher. It is easy to like the Yankees today.

Esteury Ruiz, OF, Oakland A's (DraftKings: $3,100 / FanDuel: $3,100)

Ruiz has been incredibly good this season, hitting .273 with 16 steals, 16 RBI, and 16 runs scored. He has been very hot too, scoring 22, 12, 327, and 12 dk points in the four games prior to yesterday’s 3 point performance. He is currently riding a 9-game hitting streak and averaging 11.4 dk points per game over his last 10 games. The A’s offense has been better than expected too, which doesn’t hurt. Cortes has not pitched that well thus far, with a 4.91 ERA this year.
