Fantasy Football Week 14 Waiver Advice
Week 14 of the Fantasy Football season has arrived and with it, for many at least, the fantasy playoffs begin this week. Luckily in Week 13 there were no major injuries to report that would impact a fantasy roster so we can focus on some players who are coming on strong of late to add to our fantasy rosters this week.
-FAAB bids based off of $100 budget
Quarterback
Colin Kaepernick, SF- So Kaepernick looked terrible in Week 13 but I am blaming the game plan and the weather for his poor performance as the 49ers only attempted five passes with him under center. Keapernick has already been announced as the team’s Week 14 starter where he will face a reeling Jets defense that was just torched against the Colts on Monday night and are ready to call it a season. Kaepernick is certainly a high risk/high reward type player but the matchup here is one of the best you will find when looking for a QB on the waiver wire.
FAAB Bid $5-$10
Brock Osweiler, Hou – Osweiler wasn’t half bad in Week 13 as he threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns against the Packers. In Week 14 the Texans will go up against a Colts defense that is allowing the third most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season and allowed Osweiler to throw for 269 yards and two touchdowns back in Week 6.
FAAB Bid- $0-$5
Alex Smith, KC- The Chiefs are expected to get Jeremy Maclin for their Week 14 matchup against the Raiders who are allowing the 13th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Alex Smith and tight end Travis Kelce have really connected of late and the emergence of Tyreek Hill should only help the Chiefs passing attack with Maclin returning.

Running Back
Wendell Smallwood, Phi– Make this two weeks in a row that Smallwood has disappointed fantasy owners but despite his struggles he still lead the Eagles backfield with eight carries and should be their lead back once again as they head into a big divisional matchup against the Redskins. Washington is allowing the fifth most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season so the matchup is a prime one for Smallwood but fantasy owners should temper their expectations.
FAAB Bid- $5-$10
Kenneth Dixon, Bal– Dixon totaled 77 yards in Week 13 against the Dolphins as he rushed for 56 yards and added four catches for 21 yards receiving. In Week 14 the Ravens will face off against the Patriots defense that has had trouble with pass catching running backs and if Baltimore finds themselves playing from behind then Dixon should be in for an increased workload.
FAAB Bid- $5-$10
Dion Lewis/James White, NE –The Patriots are using both Lewis and White equally as the team’s third down backs with both players catching four passes in Week 13 with Lewis gaining the edge in total yard thanks to his ability to run the ball as well. In Week 14 the Patriots will be facing a tough Ravens run defense which could force New England to go away from LeGarette Blount and rely more on Lewis and White in the passing game coming out of the backfield.

Wide Receiver
Dontrelle Inman, SD- Inman caught just 2-of-5 targets in Week 13 but he was able to rack up 49 yards and a touchdown to salvage the day for his fantasy owners. He is currently the healthiest of the Chargers top receivers and should continue to be a big play threat while seeing around five targets a week in the Chargers offense. In Week 14 the Chargers will be up against a Panthers defense that is allowing the fourth most fantasy points to opposing receivers.
FAAB Bid- $0-5
Malcolm Mitchell, NE–The Patriots fourth round draft pick is really asserting himself over the past few weeks and in Week 13 he caught a career high eight passes for 82 yards against the Rams. In Week 14 the Patriots will be up against a tough Ravens defense but should still see plenty of targets and with Tom Brady at quarterback he should be considered a WR3 this week.
FAAB Bid- $0-$5
Brandon LaFell/Tyler Boyd, CIN– Both receivers are coming off solid weeks and despite the fact that they are the No.1 and No.2 receivers in Cincinnati their ownership levels sit around 30 percent in standard leagues. In Week 13 Lafell lead the duo with five catches for 95 yards and a touchdown while Boyd caught four passes for 66 yards. In Week 14 the Bengals will face off against the lowly Cleveland Browns who allowed LaFell to catch four passes for 83 yards and a touchdown in their Week 7 matchup earlier this season.
FAAB Bid- $0-$5
Tight End
Dennis Pitta, Bal TE– Pitta is coming off what is possibly the best game of his career which saw him catch nine passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns in Week 13 against the Dolphins. In Week 14 he will face a Patriots defense that gives up a ton of passing yards which makes Pitta a very solid option in PPR formats even though it is unlikely he will repeat his multiple touchdown effort from the week before.
FAAB Bid- $0-$5
Ladarius Green, Pit– In Week 13 Green finally had the big game fantasy owners were hoping for as he caught six passes for 110 yards and a touchdown against the Giants. Green is a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses given his size and speed at the tight end position and in Week 14 he will go up against a Bills defense that has struggled against teams that feature the tight end in their offense which is something the Steelers should be trying to do given Green’s big play ability at the position.
FAAB Bid $0-$5
Cameron Brate, TB– Brate caught six passes for 86 yards and touchdown in Week 13 against the Chargers as he continues to be Jameis Winston’s No.2 receiving option behind Mike Evans. In Week 14 the Buccaneers will face off against a Saints defense that just allowed 341 yards and two touchdowns through the air in Week 13 so the value is there in what should be a high scoring contest.
