Fantasy Football Week 13 Waiver Advice

Week 13 of the Fantasy Football season has arrived.  For many this is the final week of the fantasy football regular season which really makes this upcoming waiver wire period very important with the playoffs beginning next week.  With that said let’s take a look at the top players to add in Week 13.

-FAAB bids based off of $100 budget

Quarterback

Colin Kaepernick, SF-  You might be tired of reading about Kaepernick at this point but the man continues to produce at a high level while his ownership levels sit around just 20-percent.  In Week 12, Kaepernick threw for 296 yards with three touchdowns and one interception while adding 10 carries for 133 yards.  In Week 13 the 49ers will be up against a Bears team that is ready to call it a season and could lead to another top quarterback performance.

FAAB Bid $5-$10

Alex Smith, KC- Smith has now turned in two straight solid performances against the Buccaneers and Broncos in Week’s 11 and 12.  In Week 13 the Chiefs will face a Falcons defense that is allowing the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season which should allow for Smith to turn in yet another solid fantasy performance.  Adding to Smith’s value is that fact that Jeremy Maclin could return to the field this week which would add to his receiving weapons which include Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill who has really emerged with Maclin injured.

FAAB Bid $0-$5

Ryan Fitzpatrick, NYJ- Jets coach Todd Bowles named Fitzpatrick the quarterback for the team’s Week 13 game against the Colts.  This announcement comes after Fitzpatrick threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns against the Patriots in Week 12.  The Patriots pass defense is terrible but the Colts are even worse, allowing the second most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.  The Jets do have the receiving weapons in Brandon Marshall and Quincy Enunwa to make Fitzpatrick a viable fantasy quarterback as long as he is able to limit the interceptions and the Colts defense offers him such an opportunity to produce.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

Running Back

Wendell Smallwood, Phi– Smallwood disappointed fantasy owners in Week 12 as he ran for just 37 yards on nine touches but to be fair the Eagles were forced to throw in an effort to keep pace with the Packers which lead to more snaps for Darren Sproles.  In Week 13 the Eagles will be facing a Bengals defense that is allowing the ninth most fantasy points to opposing running back and the Eagles should be able to run the ball much more effectively than they did against the Packers so I am expecting a bounce back game from Smallwood.

FAAB Bid- $10-$15

Kenneth Dixon, Bal–  Dixon rushed for 49 yards on a season high 13 carries and added four catches for 31 yards in Week 12 against the Bengals.  Fantasy owners have been waiting for Dixon to finally get more involved in the team’s rushing attack and while he still split carries with Terrance West the value is going to be there given his pass catching ability.  In Week 13 the Ravens will face off against the Dolphins who allowed Shaun Draughn to catch six passes for 49 yards out of the 49ers backfield in Week 12 so there’s a chance for Dixon to have a similar type of day out of the backfield for Baltimore while also seeing about 10 carries.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

T.J. Yeldon, Jax–Yeldon has largely been a disappointment this season but with Chris Ivory suffering a hamstring injury in Week 12 the Jaguars will look at Yeldon to be their feature back in Week 13 against the Broncos.  Denver’s defense is among the league’s best but they are allowing the 10th most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.  Yeldon has been a decent pass catcher this year out of the backfield and the Jaguars will likely be throwing a ton in an effort to beat the Broncos and therefore there is some value for Yeldon in PPR leagues.

Wide Receiver

Dontrelle Inman, SD- The Chargers are hurting at receiver with Travis Benjamin and Ty Williams banged up which lead to Inman turning in a big game in Week 12 which saw him catch six passes for 119 yards and a touchdown.  Over the past five weeks Inman has caught 24-of-37 targets for 278 yards which averages out to about five catches on seven targets for 56 yards a game.  In Week 13 the Charges will be at home against the Buccaneers who, despite shutting down the Seahawks in Week 12, have struggled against the pass this season and should lead to another solid fantasy day from Inman.

FAAB Bid- $0-5

Quincy Enunwa, NYJ–It has been an up and down season for Enunwa as the Jets passing attack has struggled thanks to poor quarterback play.  In Week 12 things got back on track for Enunwa as he took advantage of a poor Patriots secondary to catch five passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.  In Week 13 the Jets will face off against a Colts secondary that ranks towards the bottom half of the league and present yet another favorable matchup.  The defenses typically putting their top corner on Brandon Marshall fantasy owners can look for Enunwa to have a favorable coverage matchup as well.  If Fitzpatrick can stay on track Enunwa has upside in Week 13.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

Anquan Boldin, Det–  Boldin has seen nine targets in each of the last two weeks which he has turned into a total of 13 catches for 106 yards and a touchdown. On Thanksgiving Bolding caught seven passes for 69 yards and a touchdown against a tough Vikings defense. In Week 13 the Lions will face off against the Saints who are just terrible at defending the pass and should lead to another strong game from Boldin who despite his age has been a solid possession receiver for the Lions this season.  This game should have the highest point total of the week and Boldin is likely sitting on the waiver wire for this in need of a high risk/high reward player.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

Tight End

Lance Kendricks, LA– Kendricks continues to be highly targeted in the Rams passing attack and under Goff he has not seen seven targets in each of the last two games.  Over the last six games Kendricks is averaging 7.5 targets which is a number that should continue when the Rams face off against the Patriots in Week 13 who have struggled against the pass this season and will likely focus on stopping Todd Gurley and trust that Goff will not beat them which is good news for his receivers.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Vernon Davis, Wsh– In Week 12 Jordan Reed suffered a shoulder injury and while Reed was able to finish the game his status for Week 13 is up in the air.  His injury status will once again boost the value of Vernon Davis who caught five catches for 68 yards against the Cowboys.  In Week 13 the Redskins do face a tough Cardinals secondary that are allowing the fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends but Davis is still a matchup problem and Cousins likes to throw at his tight end which should still lead to a decent fantasy day from Davis.

FAAB Bid $5-$10

Vance McDonald, SF– McDonald is loving Colin Kaepernick at quarterback and the tight end has seen no less than six targets per game with him under center.  During this stretch of games McDonald has caught 15 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns.  In Week 13 the 49ers will face off against a Bears defense that has allowed a touchdown to the opposing team’s tight end in three straight games.
