MLB Injury Report: Starting Pitchers
Zack Wheeler, Philadelphia Phillies - Arm
Wheeler’s 2025 season is over after being diagnosed with nervous thoracic outlet syndrome. General recovery time is 6-to-8 months.
Jacob deGrom, Texas Rangers - Shoulder
deGrom’s last start was skipped due to shoulder fatigue/soreness, but he’ll toe the rubber on Monday night against the Angels.
Chris Sale, Atlanta Braves - Rib
Sale worked up to 77 pitches in his last rehab outing, and barring any setbacks, his next start should come with the big league club later this week.
Michael King, San Diego Padres - Knee
It has yet to be determined whether King will require a rehab start or if he’ll just immediately rejoin the big league rotation.
Frankie Montas, New York Mets - Elbow
Montas has an elbow injury, and the team has already said his 2025 season is over. The Mets could look to prospects Brandon Sproat and Jonah Tong to help down the stretch.
Kyle Bradish, Baltimore Orioles - Elbow
So long as there are no last-minute setbacks in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, Bradish should make his season debut on Tuesday against Boston.
MLB Injury Report: Hitters
Yordan Alvarez, Houston Astros - Hand
The wait could finally be over! There’s growing optimism that Alvarez will be activated for Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies. Alvarez hasn’t played since May 2, but he went 7-for-15 in four rehab games with four XBH.
Vladimir Guerrero, Toronto Blue Jays - Hamstring
Vladdy Jr. is still dealing with inflammation in his hamstring, and he hasn’t started any of the last five games. The positive news is that he did pinch-hit on Sunday, so perhaps he’ll rejoin the starting lineup today (Monday).
Jordan Westburg, Baltimore Orioles - Ankle
Westburg was placed on the injured list with his sprained ankle.
Jackson Merrill, San Diego Padres - Ankle
There was initially some hope that Merrill could avoid a trip to the injured list, but the team opted to place him on the IL over the weekend with his ankle injury. Ramon Laureano figures to be the everyday center fielder while Merrill is out of action.
Brandon Nimmo, New York Mets - Neck
Nimmo is dealing with a sore neck and has missed the team’s last four games. Consider him day to day at the moment.
Oneil Cruz, Pittsburgh Pirates - Concussion
Cruz started a rehab assignment on Saturday as he works back from a concussion. It doesn’t sound like his rehab assignment will be too lengthy.
Jackson Chourio, Milwaukee Brewers - Hamstring
Chourio began a rehab assignment on Friday, and while he’s 1-for-11 through three games, he appears to be healthy and not having setbacks, which is the most important thing.
Ha-Seong Kim, Tampa Bay Rays - Back
Kim was placed on the injured list with back inflammation. The hope is that his time on the IL isn’t much longer than the required minimum stay.
Marcus Semien, Texas Rangers - Foot
Semien is dealing with a fracture in his foot, as well as a sprained Lisfranc ligament, and his regular season is effectively over. Ezequiel Duran should see added run at the keystone position.
Masyn Winn, St. Louis Cardinals - Knee
Winn has been battling knee pain for some time now, but he’ll go for an MRI on Monday to try to determine the extent of the damage.
Evan Carter, Texas Rangers - Wrist
Carter was hit by a pitch last week on his hand, resulting in a fractured wrist. His 2025 season will end prematurely.
Nolan Schanuel, Los Angeles Angels - Wrist
A left wrist contusion will send Schanuel to the injured list. Niko Kavadas should see regular playing time at 1B while Schanuel is out, at least against RHP.
