Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today
When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.
- Spencer Arrighetti, Houston Astros – 14 SB allowed
- Andrew Abbott, Cincinnati Reds – 13 SB allowed
- Joey Cantillo, Cleveland Guardians – 12 SB allowed
- Patrick Corbin, Toronto Blue Jays – 10 SB allowed
- Tomoyuki Sugano, Colorado Rockies – 8 SB allowed
Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases
The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.
- Mickey Gasper, Boston Red Sox – 0% CS (11 att.)
- Ivan Herrera, St. Louis Cardinals – 0% CS (15 att.)
- Drake Baldwin, Atlanta Braves – 6% CS (16 att.)
- Jonah Heim, Athletics – 7% CS (15 att.)
- Endy Rodriguez, Pittsburgh Pirates – 9% CS (11 att.)
- Austin Hedges, Cleveland Guardians – 9% CS (22 att.)
- Victor Caratini, Minnesota Twins – 10% CS (31 att.)
- Sebastian Rivero, Los Angeles Angels – 10% CS (10 att.)
- Alejandro Kirk, Toronto Blue Jays – 12% CS (17 att.)
- Brett Sullivan, Colorado Rockies – 12% CS (26 att.)
Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:
Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Saturday, June 20:
Favorite Bets:
Travis Bazzana, Cleveland Guardians (+301)
The Guardians rookie is swinging a hot bat right now in the absence of team-leader Jose Ramirez. He’s hit safely in three-straight and in four of his last five. In that span, he’s also drawn five walks and stolen one base. With a .395 wOBA, .390 OBP and a 12.2-percent walk-rate against righthanded pitching, we’re going to lock Bazzana in against Astros righty Spencer Arrighetti who has allowed a slate-high 14 stolen bases and will be working again with catcher Yainer Diaz who has come back from the IL with his 17-percent caught-stealing rate on a dozen attempts.
Jasson Dominguez, New York Yankees (+309)
I expect the Yankees to test an old friend today as former Bronx Bomber Jose Trevino will be behind the dish for the Reds today. Trevino has allowed six stolen bases on eight attempts this season and has just a 23.3-percent caught-stealing rate for his entire career. The Reds are sending lefthander Andrew Abbott to the mound and he’s allowed 13 stolen bases this season, the second-most on today’s slate. The switch-hitting Dominguez has typically struggled with left-handed pitching, but is actually batting .353 against southpaws this season and that comes with a .402 wOBA. I expect him to be aggressive once he gets on-base.
