MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 9/1

Orioles vs. Padres Predictions

It's an interleague series to start the month of September as the Orioles fly west to take on the Padres. Should be a good matchup with a couple of different ways to wager, so let’s go ahead and dive right in!

With the Padres chasing a National League West pennant, they have so much more to play for right now than the Orioles, who, after this past week, seemed to have waved the white flag. Kyle Bradish will pitch for them, and he was good in his return from injury with 10 strikeouts, but this Padres team does not punch out. Since the start of August, San Diego has just an 18.1% K-rate and a .298 BABIP, which seems to be increasing every day. Bradish is going to have a tough second start, in my opinion, due to these numbers, and the Orioles will have to go against Dylan Cease. 

Cease has been a bit of a wild card this season, but the one thing you can count on is strikeouts. In his last 5 starts, he has 30 punchouts over the course of 23.2 innings pitched while allowing 13 earned runs. Just 17 hits during that span as well, so it’s been better, and the Orioles rank 6th in K-rate since August 1st at 24.5% with an ISO of .144. Seems as though the Os on the road just aren’t much of a threat either, so let’s go Padres Money Line and Dylan Cease over on his strikeouts tonight.
