2023 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Bello made 28 starts and pitched to a 4.24 ERA. While he didn’t strikeout many batters (7.57 K/9) like he did throughout his minor league career, he instead pitched to contact (10.1 career Hit/9 rate). Luckily most of that contact was made on the ground (56.2 ground ball rate).
2024 Outlook: His .313 BAA lefty batters is concerning but his walk rate decreased as the season wore on and he features a nice mix of pitches including an excellent changeup (.196 BAA, 38.7 Whiff%). With more consistency he could be a breakout candidate this season but based on his 4.21 xERA Bello’s 2023 season is a pretty good indicator of what we can expect from him this season.
