Another week to win some money so let’s get to my expert MLB Best Bets and Prop Bets for today!

We are coming off a really nice column with Friday’s MLB picks, where we pulled ourselves out of that early hole we were in. The Braves and Rangers did us right and we hit a few MLB props regarding strikeouts to land us well in the green. As I’ve said before, the key is to not panic and haphazardly change your process.

We may have thrown down a few more bets than we usually do, but the volume is what has helped us the most. The analysis process for each game has remained the same though. We’ll continue down this path with a nice, big Monday slate.

MLB Best Bets & Prop Bets For Today: Monday, April 15

Keep in mind, I am not really betting the Boston Red Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians game today with its super-early start on Patriots Day. If you wanted to lay some action down, I don’t mind the Sox team total over 2.5 runs for the first-five innings, because of the Guardians extra-inning effort against the Yankees on Sunday, followed up by some travel, but this early start takes all the players out of their routine and comfort zone.

So, we’ll stick with the rest of the slate here in today’s MLB predictions.

  • Friday’s Record: 8-4
  • Season Record: 39-37

Twins vs. Orioles Prediction Today, 4/15

First up for my MLB picks today is a game where the pitching matchup doesn’t really entice me, as the Orioles are throwing lefty Cole Irvin while the Twins are throwing righthander Louie Varland. Normally I’d look at the game total, but even the over-9 makes me a little nervous. Instead, we’ll just focus on the bats I feel we can trust and that would be the Orioles.

Baltimore is posting an impressive .335 wOBA against righties this season, but more importantly is that they are swinging the bats with power. They have a .204 ISO and 16 home runs against righties this year. That’s the second-highest ISO and third-most homers.

They got back on-track with a much-needed win over the Brewers on Sunday and are hoping to get back to where they were when they were sweeping Boston just one series ago. We like it and we’re going to invest.

Giants vs. Marlins Prediction Today, 4/15

I was looking at this game in a totally different way until this morning when news broke that Edward Cabrera would be coming off the IL to start for the Marlins, who scratched lefty AJ Puk. While I do like Cabrera on the whole, he, like the rest of the Marlins pitching, is just not ready for 2024.

The Giants are middle-of-the-road against righties this season, but I just can’t back Cabrera yet. I’ll make these selections for today’s MLB predictions nice and simple by taking the Giants to win this game and maybe invest in a bat or two.

Cardinals vs. Athletics Prediction Today, 4/15

Rounding out today’s MLB picks are the Cardinals, who have had their struggles this season, but I’m starting to turn around on them. First off, the injury bug has been biting them in the ass since Day 1, but the team is getting healthier, and it looks like we’re seeing better at-bats from the hitters. Secondly, the schedule eases up on them nicely here with the matchup against the Athletics.

So far this season, the Cardinals have faced the Dodgers, Padres, Phillies and Diamondbacks. That’s a gauntlet and the only breather they got was a three-game set against the Marlins, of which they took two of three. I see the hitters bouncing back against Ross Stripling and the pitching to take off even more. You can cite the revenge-game narrative if you like, but I don’t think Sonny Gray needs it.

He tossed five scoreless frames in his season debut while only throwing 64 pitches. One would have to assume the Cardinals are going to ramp him up even more, so even if he’s throwing 85 pitches tonight, he should put on quite the show. The Athletics are sitting on a .280 wOBA against righties which comes with a 28.1% strikeout rate, second worst to Seattle. Gray should earn his second win of the season tonight.
