Time to check in with our expert MLB Best Bets and Props for today on Fantasy Alarm! We have a full slate of MLB games from which to choose here on Wednesday along with an early start.

Only six games for the early slate of action, so while I really am not a fan of betting daytime baseball, we’ll still take a look and see if we can’t find some value bets here and there. The meat of the action, though, starts up in the early evening – they love these 6:40pm ET starts – and we have some fantastic opportunities to make some money and build up that bankroll with today’s MLB predictions!

MLB Picks, Predictions, & Best Bets Today, May 22nd

Not a great night last night at all, and after pushing our bankroll up almost 20 units, we drop back down with back-to-back sub-.500 nights. No need for me to have to tell you about the ups and downs or the heavy swings we hit sometimes with volume-betting. We’re riding and dying together here.

We’ll look to get it back with tonight’s action, so let’s just get right to my MLB best bets today.

  • Yesterday’s Record: 4-8
  • Season Record: 148-121-4
  • Bankroll: +13.80 units

*Each of my MLB picks will be presented with their odds listed alongside.

Tigers vs. Royals Prediction: Wednesday, 5/22

Okay, fine. Yes, I said I would avoid the daytime baseball, just like I usually do in my MLB predictions, but with this pitching matchup, I just can’t avoid the temptation.

Now, both offenses have been solid over the past week, neither has had a strikeout rate over 21-percent in that time or has one higher than that against lefthanded pitching overall, and the books have some of these strikeout props a little too juiced for my liking. So… we’re just going to go lightly here with a shortened game total. Both bullpens have been worked lately, so we’re not going to leave it up to them, but the starters will keep the score down.

White Sox vs. Blue Jays Prediction: Wednesday, May 22

The White Sox are looking to get Mike Clevinger an extra day of rest, so they are calling up Nick Nastrini to make the start today in Toronto. Considering the abuse he took on the road in Philadelphia during his last call-up – five earned runs over just three innings – we’re going to look to the Jays bats to do some damage for our MLB picks today, at least early on in this game.

Nastrini’s command is spotty – he walks too many guys. And, while the Blue Jays have not put forth the offense we were expecting when the season opened, they should get to him here at home.

Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers Prediction: Wednesday, May 22

There are a few things working in our favor for this one and betting it now seems to be the way to go. First off, there’s Tyler Glasnow on the mound for Los Angeles. The Arizona bats have continued to struggle against righthanded pitching and his ability to miss bats is obviously well-documented. But the reason we’re jumping on all of this now is that I read a report that said Arizona is going to call up someone prior to the game and Ryne Nelson is not going to start.

There will be an opener and Nelson might only throw in relief. Might. No guarantee he and his 7.06 ERA even make an appearance, but if they do, the Dodgers are likely to tee off on him and the rest of that bullpen. In fact, the Arizona pen has a 6.45 ERA over the past week, so they’re getting worked. This whole writeup might just be my favorite of all today’s MLB predictions.
