Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Tuesday, September 1:

Favorite Bets:

Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Guardians (+273) – While his overall numbers against righties don’t look that great this season, we’re going to ride the hot bat of Ramirez, who has hit safely in three straight and seven of his last eight with two stolen bases and one caught stealing. So he’s running, which we love. Dylan Cease has allowed the most stolen bases of any pitcher this season, and Alejandro Kirk is struggling with a dismal 16-percent caught-stealing rate.

Longshot:

Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers (+630) – On a day that’s got some tough matchups for stolen bases, we’ll lean into the always dominant Ohtani. The Cardinals are going with what appears to be a bullpen game with bulk relievers like Cade Winquest and Brycen Mautz, so we’ll go with the guy who hits everyone regardless of handedness. Maybe just a half-unit because of the unknown, but Ohtani has three stolen bases in his last 10 games and continues to set the tone for the Dodgers. If we can get Ivan Herrera behind the plate, I’d be inclined to go the full unit, so be sure to check the starting lineups tonight.
