Looking for the best stolen base picks for today? We’ve got you covered here at Fantasy Alarm, even though our picks didn’t come through for us yesterday. But it wasn’t just us. Look around MLB, and you’ll see there were just a total of nine stolen bases on the day. That’s an incredibly low total. It also didn’t help that both of our players, Jose Caballero and Carson Benge, decided to be power-hitters instead of base-stealers, as both of them went yard instead of simply getting on-base. No worries on that front. It’s the calm before the storm, and we’re ready to get back at it with a full slate of MLB games today.

Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Tuesday, July 7:

Favorite Bets:

Trea Turner, Philadelphia Phillies (+209)

While Turner has had his troubles against lefties this season, we’re still going to lean into this pick today because, career-wise, he hit lefties just as well as he hits righties, and he’s logged good enough numbers against Andrew Abbott to understand why Vegas has his odds so low. Not only has Abbot allowed the most stolen bases of any pitcher on today’s slate, but Reds catchers have a combined caught-stealing rate of just 17.6-percent. That’s well below league-average. Turner is coming off a solid three-hit game and has hit safely in seven of his last eight and 11 of his last 13. When he gets on today, he’s running.

Konnor Griffin, Pittsburgh Pirates (+226)

The Braves are throwing righthander Hurston Waldrep tonight, and the righthander has been struggling to contain same-handed batters this season, so we’ll lean into the leadoff man for the Pirates, who’s been on an absolute monster tear since coming back from the IL. In eight games since being reinstated, Griffin has hit safely in seven of them with six stolen bases and no caught-stealing. That’s going to be a massive test for Braves catcher Drake Baldwin, who has an unbelievably sad five-percent caught-stealing rate over 21 attempts. I like the aggressiveness of the Pirates so much that I’m also going to sprinkle a little something on Jake Mangum to swipe a bag at +325 as well.
