Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Friday, July 3:

Favorite Bets:

Chandler Simpson, Tampa Bay Rays (+196) – The odds are a little soft for a stolen base, but everything is lining up to play it anyway; sort of a take the money and run mentality. Simpson is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 11 of his last 12. In that span, he’s got six stolen bases and three caught-stealings. Not the greatest success rate for a burner, but he’s out there, and he’s aggressive. Houston righty Spencer Arrighettii has allowed 15 stolen bases on the season, and his catcher, Yainer Diaz, is sitting on a 21-percent caught-stealing rate on 19 attempts. This should work for us today.

Jose Caballero, New York Yankees (+290) – You can certainly fish for longer odds with Jazz Chisolm (+368) and get that lefty/righty matchup, but he’s a bigger threat to strike out, and sometimes his head just isn’t in the game. I’ll let you take the risk. Meanwhile, I’ll tilt towards Caballero, who still has a .302 wOBA against right-handers and has three stolen bases in his last 10. But what I like is that he doesn’t strike out (<18%) and Twins catcher Victor Caratini has a miserable nine-percent caught-stealing rate on 34 attempts. If the Yankees can best Mike Paredes today, we should be good.
