WNBA DFS Playbook August 6: Top DraftKings & FanDuel WNBA DFS Picks
Sunday’s four-game WNBA DFS slate is one of the most challenging we have had in recent memory. There is basically no injury news and the only piece of value we can squeeze out of the slate is if Victoria Vivians is still coming off the bench and/or on a minutes limit following her non-COVID illness. On top of that, six of seven teams that have allowed the fewest opponent’s points are in action. The two teams that have allowed the most points, Atlanta and Indiana, face each other. This has introduced an interesting dichotomy between the two sites. On DraftKings, I have identified a couple of dirt-cheap players who have a chance to provide nice value. They are even close to being safe, but they will allow us to spend big at the other positions. In this kind of slate, that could be quite valuable. Unfortunately, those players cost at least $600 more on FanDuel so even though I may employ a similar strategy, it will result in less top-end talent in the lineup. As a result, we will have to focus more on mid-tier players for FanDuel. This also means that any surprise news we get before tip-off will be even more important than usual. You may want to commit a couple of lineup spots to the lone late game because if we find out Crystal Dangerfield is out, for instance, you would have a significant advantage over fantasy players who loaded up on the early games.
| WNBA DFS Guards | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Marina Mabrey | CHI | DAL | 7900 | 27.29 | ### | 26.07 |
| Mabrey appears to have turned things around following a rough stretch, with at least 32 fantasy points in three of her last five games. She is averaging 38.0 fantasy points against her former team. Courtney Williams and Kahleah Copper are probably safer but Mabrey looks like the best value. | ||||||
| Jackie Young | LV | NY | 9600 | 32.75 | ### | 32.13 |
| The Liberty have improved against guards but they are still a tougher matchup for forwards. Young had 33.3 fantasy points in her only game against the Liberty and she is coming off 35.75 fantasy points on Tuesday. | ||||||
| Shatori Walker-Kimbrough | WAS | LA | 6200 | 13.23 | ### | 13.40 |
| Walker-Kimbrough struggled against Los Angeles on Friday, but she still played 33 minutes and the Sparks are will allowing the third-most fantasy points to guards. | ||||||
| Zia Cooke | LA | WAS | 3500 | 8.14 | ### | 8.19 |
| Cooke was a healthy scratch against the Liberty on Tuesday and then played 25 minutes against Washington. I'm really not expecting a repeat performance but none of her teammates have played any better and at her current DraftKings price, we really don't need a whole lot. | ||||||
| Aari McDonald | ATL | IND | 6000 | 15.58 | ### | 14.68 |
| McDonald struggled at Las Vegas on Tuesday, as a lot of players do, but outside of that she has averaged 21.7 fantasy points. Indiana has allowed the most points to opponents this season and McDonald is a good bet to take advantage. | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Kelsey Mitchell | IND | ATL | 8300 | 24.81 | ### | 23.47 |
| I really hoped that Mitchell would start to break out now that she has legit WNBA talent around her, and instead he is averaging her fewest fantasy points since 2019 despite playing the most minutes of her career. That being said, she is averaging 27.4 fantasy points against Atlanta this season, and the rest of the guards in her price range are all equally frustrating. | ||||||
| Brittney Sykes | WAS | LA | 10200 | 30.5 | ### | 30.98 |
| It is still hard for me to believe that Sykes is the only consistent fantasy producer for Washington, but I guess that is what happens when 60 percent of your starting lineup is injured and you only trust one of your forwards to play more than 20 minutes. Sykes has at least 29.5 fantasy points in 12 of her last 13 games, and the Sparks are 10th in fantasy points allowed to guards. | ||||||
| WNBA DFS Forwards | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Aliyah Boston | IND | ATL | 9500 | 31.81 | ### | 32.71 |
| Boston has been much better since Emma Cannon replaced Victoria Vivians in the starting lineup, averaging 38.6 fantasy points in two games. Even if Vivians is off her minutes restriction, there is a good chance Cannon remains in the starting lineup. It also doesn't hurt that Atlanta has allowed the most fantasy points to fowards this season. | ||||||
| Emma Cannon | IND | ATL | 6600 | 11.62 | ### | 10.70 |
| Even with Victoria Vivians returning Friday, Cannon played 25 minutes. She wasn't great in that game but she is averaging 0.96 FPPM and so long as she starts, she is a nice value in this matchup. If Cannon comes off the bench, I will pivot to Azura Stevens or Dearica Hamby. | ||||||
| Satou Sabally | DAL | CHI | 11100 | 38.81 | ### | 37.17 |
| Sabally has been super consistent of late, scoring at least 34 fantasy points in eight straight games, including against Chicago on Friday. I don't expect a 28-point triple-double from Natasha Howard agian, but at least one of the forwards should go off against the team allowing the second-most fantasy points to forwards. | ||||||
| Maddy Siegrist | DAL | CHI | 3400 | 6.17 | ### | 6.33 |
| Siegrist has quietly played at least 11 minutes and scored double-digit fantasy points in three of her last four games. I wish she was cheaper on FanDuel but I will take what I can get at this point. | ||||||
| Queen Egbo | WAS | LA | 5600 | 11.64 | ### | 12.05 |
| Egbo is averaging 20.8 fppg over the last 10 days, which is more than any of the forwards in her price range, including Emma Cannon. Egbo hasn't been particularly consistent, but she is averaging 0.91 fppm this season and she has played at least 19 minutes in three of her last four games. | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Breanna Stewart | NY | LV | 12000 | 46.31 | ### | 46.17 |
| Both Stewart and A'ja Wilson struggled in their only matchup with each other this season, but they are probably too good to get held under 30 fantasy points again. Stewart has been 6.6 fantasy points better at home this season. | ||||||
