Perhaps the most exciting aspect of Tuesday’s WNBA DFS slate is that two of the four games are rematches from Sunday. When we see an immediate rematch in the WNBA, I think it is natural to assume that the second game will go similarly to the first. If DeWanna Bonner goes off against Minnesota despite shooting 25 percent on threes, we assume that nothing has changed in two days. Often I find that star players only perform well in one night of a back-to-back. If someone like Diamond Miller struggled in that same game, she could be a great bounce-back candidate. At the end of the day, we are more worried about things like injuries and matchups and rest, but I will certainly be more likely to pounce on someone coming off a bad game if they happen to be playing that same opponent again.
WNBA DFS Picks August 1
| Guards | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Diamond Miller | MIN | CON | 8400 | 24.32 | 6700 | 24.27 |
| Miller laid an egg against Connecticut on Sunday, but she has still topped 30 fantasy points in three of her last five games. With Napheesa Collier out, Miller remains the best bet to carry Minnesota's offense. | ||||||
| Kelsey Plum | LV | ATL | 10200 | 31.14 | 6800 | 29.73 |
| Her price is inching upward, but she is still too cheap on FanDuel compared to her teammates. I might pivot to Chelsea Gray on DraftKings but on FanDuel, it isn't particularly close. | ||||||
| DiJonai Carrington | CON | MIN | 6100 | 15.34 | 5100 | 15.04 |
| Carrington is risky, but it was good to see her play 24 minutes despite shooting 33 percent from the field. Minnesota has allowed the most fantasy points to guards and if Carrington plays 20ish minutes, she should score 20 fantasy points again. | ||||||
| Kristy Wallace | IND | PHO | 3700 | 13.82 | 4000 | 13.40 |
| I'll probably pivot if Grace Berger starts instead, but maybe not. They have been nearly identical on a per-minute basis and they have split minutes fairly evenly of late even when Berger has been the first one off the bench. I'm not sure a starting role would be enough to put Berger ahead of Wallace, especially on DraftKings. | ||||||
| DeWanna Bonner | CON | MIN | 10300 | 33.08 | 8000 | 32.73 |
| Bonner has at least 33.5 fantasy points in seven consecutive games, including 48.75 fantasy points against Minnesota on Sunday. I see no reason to believe she will slow down Tuesday. | ||||||
| Forwards | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Megan Gustafson | PHO | IND | 5000 | 12.38 | 5500 | 12.15 |
| Gustafston played a season-high 27 minutes Sunday, and with Brittney Griner out, she is a great play on both sites. Gustafson is averaging 0.96 fppm this season. | ||||||
| Jessica Shepard | MIN | CON | 7700 | 26.35 | 5400 | 25.29 |
| Shepard has seen her minutes increase in every game since returning from a long-term illness last week. She is a little risky if she only plays 24 minutes again, but if she gets up to 30, she could be a fantastic value on both sites. | ||||||
| Victaria Saxton | IND | PHO | 3000 | 1.44 | 3000 | 1.15 |
| Saxton played a season-high 10 minutes Sunday, and she has a chance to eclipse that total with Victoria Vivians doubtful. The safer play is to go with whoever replaces Vivians in the starting lineup, but Saxton will be cheaper and should benefit just as much. | ||||||
| Alyssa Thomas | CON | MIN | 11200 | 43.38 | 8400 | 42.19 |
| With Napheesa Collier and Brittney Griner out, there is a clear line of demarcation between the elite forwards and everyone else. Thomas is the cheapest of those forwards even though she has averaged 46 fantasy points in three games against Minnesota. She's pretty clearly the best value at the top of the board. | ||||||
| Jonquel Jones | NY | LA | 9900 | 27.25 | 7500 | 26.60 |
| She has only topped 30 minutes three times this season, but she has at least 37.25 fantasy points in five of her last six games, including against Los Angeles on Sunday. If you can't afford the top forwards but don't want to drop all the way down to Jessica Shepard, Jones is a fine play. | ||||||
| Michaela Onyenwere | PHO | IND | 6300 | 20.22 | 4400 | 19.65 |
| Onyenwere was just as good as Gustafson Sunday, and she is much cheaper on DraftKings. I would rather play Gustafson if I could, but we are saving a lot of money with Onyenwere that we can spend elsewhere. | ||||||
