PGA DFS Coverage for World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba

The golfers may have been unknown for the most part but it was a fun competitive weekend in Bermuda.  It had to be tough for these players to have to travel to Bermuda and now have to go to Playa del Carmen, Mexico for the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba.  This event has been hosted on the El Camaleon Golf Club since it was first played on the PGA Tour in 2007.  The winner of this tournament has hit 20 under par in the last four years.  That means we need players who can go low and go low consistently over the four days in Mexico.  Back to back champion Viktor Hovland leads a solid field this weekend.

The Field: World Wide Technology at Mayakoba

The field in Playa del Carmen does improve over what we saw in Bermuda last weekend.  We’ve got the headliner Viktor Hovland coming into this tournament looking for a three-peat.  He will be joined by 131 other golfers including number one player in the world Scottie Scheffler, two-time major winner Collin Morikawa, and Tony Finau.  While those are the bigger names in the field, I feel like the mid-tier players are much improved over what we saw last weekend.  You should feel more comfortable with your lineups heading into the World Wide Technology.

The Course: El Camaleon Golf Course

El Camaleon Golf Club is a coastline golf course which means wind will be the major defense on this course.  It is a very short track sitting just over 7,000 yards and plays as a Par 71.  The head of LIV Golf Greg Norman designed this course and it features unique environments.  Golfers must keep the ball on the fairway to avoid these various hazards.  Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and Fairways Hit are vital stats this weekend to watch when picking players.  Greens in Regulation, Strokes Gained: Approach, and Par 4 Birdie or Better are other stats I’ll be targeting this weekend.  We’ve got 11 par 4s for these players to attack, ranging from 386 yards to 485 yards. Do not think that the bigger hitters will have an added advantage on this short course, I’ll be targeting lots of course managers.

The Weather: Playa del Carmen, Mexico

While the weather won’t be perfect like you’d expect for a place like Playa del Carmen it won’t be as bad as it was in Bermuda last weekend.  It will start wet on Thursday and bleed into Friday.  The remainder of the weekend looks to be pretty perfect with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 80s.
