PGA DFS Coverage for the BMW Championship

It was an exciting kick off to the FedEx Cup Playoffs in Memphis, Tennessee as young Will Zalatoris finally broke through and picked up his first PGA Tour victory. He couldn’t have picked a better week to get that first win as it catapulted him to the top of the FedEx Cup Standings heading into Week 2 of this three-week journey.

The PGA Tour ventures to Wilmington, Delaware for the BMW Championship. This course’s history dates back to 1901 but plays host to its first event this weekend. It takes over for last year’s host Caves Valley Golf Club just outside Baltimore which had Patrick Cantlay and Bryson DeChambeau battle it out in a playoff to crown a champion. It should be a fun challenge for these players in our first state.

The Field: BMW Championship

The FedEx Cup Playoffs move into its second week and we’ve got a field of 70 players teeing it up in Wilmington this weekend. This stellar field will be competing for the right to play in next week’s Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta. Will Zalatoris jumped from 12th in the standings to first with his victory at TPC Southwind. Sepp Straka made the biggest move from 36th before last week into the Top 10 this week with his runner up finish. The golfers you should keep a close eye on this weekend are J.J. Spaun, Aaron Wise, Maverick McNealy, K.H. Lee, Lucas Glover, Denny McCarthy, Seamus Power, Shane Lowry, Keith Mitchell, and Cameron Tringale all sit within 10 spots of the Top 30. Two weeks until someone is rewarded with the 15 million dollar prize, all these players are putting their best foot forward.

The Course: Wilmington Country Club

Wilmington Country Club measures 7,534 yards and plays as a par 71 with bentgrass greens. Overall, this course is relatively unknown to most everyone in the field and us DFS players as well. The greens are supposedly gigantic which does level the playing field a bit but it could lead to more three putts this weekend. Accuracy will come into play as the fairways are thin and unforgiving. We want bombers with the length on this course but they can’t spray it all over the yard. Players will also have to deal with sands scattered all over this track.

The Weather: Wilmington, Delaware

The weather should be nearly perfect this weekend. We will see temperatures in the mid to upper 80s throughout the tournament with winds under 10 miles per hour. There is a call for some rain on Sunday morning clearing by the early afternoon.
