NFL DFS Week 17 RB Coach: James Cook, Saquon Barkley, Chase Brown
Welcome to the Week 17 NFL DFS RB Coach article!! It’s time to shake those visions of sugar plum fairies out of your head and concentrate on something important, like setting cash-winning NFL DFS lineups!
In last week’s article, I mentioned that it was a good week to pay up at the NFL DFS RB position. My suggestion to use Christian McCaffrey, De’Von Achane, Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Jonathan Taylor, and Saquon Barkley in DFS worked out well. They all scored over 15 fantasy points on both the DraftKings and FanDuel platforms in Week 16. (Gibbs was a big Christmas Day disappointment, but you can’t win them all). Aaron Jones and Breece Hall were the other NFL DFS RBs I suggested using in DFS lineups. Jones did OK, but Hall was a bust!
NFL Week 17 NFL DFS RBs
Unlike last week, there are several moderately priced Week 17 NFL DFS RBs who have good matchups, so you can avoid using top-tier options like De’Von Achane, Christian McCaffrey, and Bijan Robinson if you choose to do so.
As previously mentioned, Jonathan Taylor came through for us in Week 16, but he has a tough matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17, and his production has tailed off lately. In his first 10 games, he averaged 6.0 YPC, but in his last five games, his average dropped to just 3.5. He won’t be in any of my NFL DFS lineups this week.
Houston Texans NFL DFS RB Woody Marks (ankle) is another RB who I won’t be using in DFS this week. He’s been a full participant in practice this week, but he takes on the Los Angeles Chargers, and they’ve given up the fewest PPR fantasy points per game to NFL DFS RBs over the past five weeks.
These are some of my favorite NFL DFS RBs for Week 17! Good luck, and I hope you win some cash!

NFL DFS RB Picks For Week 17
James Cook, RB, Buffalo Bills
DraftKings: $8,000 | FanDuel: $9,000
Cook III has been on a roll of late. He has six total TDs and is averaging 5.4 YPC over his last five games. He takes on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17, and they’ve given up 4.77 YPC and five total TDs to NFL DFS RBs over their last five games. Cook III has had a knack for finding the end zone over the past two seasons, and that should continue in Week 17.Â
Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
DraftKings: $7,600 | FanDuel: $8,700
Barkley’s back! Whatever was bothering Barkley in his first 12 games of the season (3.7 YPC) seems to be in the rearview mirror. He has scored a TD in three straight games and is averaging 5.3 YPC during that time span. Barkley takes on the Buffalo Bills in Week 17, and they have been very friendly to NFL DFS RBs this season. In their last five games, the Bills have given up 4.86 YPC and five TDs to the position. Only four teams have run the ball more than the Eagles over the past three weeks, and if that trend continues, Barkley is poised to have a big Week 17.
Chase Brown, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
DraftKings: $7,400 | FanDuel: $8,000
Brown has a very favorable matchup against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17 that will help him build upon his three-TD Week 16 performance. Brown got off to a slow start this season, but since Week 7, he’s averaging over 100 yards from scrimmage and just under five catches per game. The Cardinals have given up the most rushing yards to NFL DFS RBs over their last five games.

Â
Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
DraftKings: $6,100 | FanDuel: $7,500
Jeanty is another NFL DFS RB with a good chance to build upon a big Week 16th performance. He rushed for 128 yards and scored both a rushing and receiving TD against a good Houston Texans defense last week. Things should be easier for Jeanty in Week 17 as he takes on the New York Giants, whose run defense has been atrocious all season. They’ve given up the second-most rushing yards (1828) and the second-most PPR fantasy points to NFL DFS RBs this season.Â
Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, New England Patriots
DraftKings: $5,900 | FanDuel: $6,400
Keep an eye on TreVeyon Henderson’s status (concussion) for Week 17. If he’s out, look for Stevenson to have a big game against the New York Jets. The Jets have given up the most PPR fantasy points and 11 total TDs to NFL DFS RBs over the past five weeks. Stevenson has only 14 carries over his last two games, but he’s made the most of them, rushing for 7.2 YPC.Â
Tony Pollard, RB, Tennessee Titans
DraftKings: $5,500 | FanDuel: $6,100
Pollard has really turned his season around. Over his last four games, he’s averaging 6.1 YPC. What’s even more impressive about his recent turnaround is that two of those four games were against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs, both of whom have been very tough on NFL DFS RBs. Pollard has also rushed for at least 102 yards in each of his last three games. He takes on the New Orleans Saints in Week 17, who have been pretty good against the run this season but are giving up 4.23 YPC to NFL DFS RBs in their last five games.Â
Â
Â
Michael Carter, RB, Arizona Cardinals
DraftKings: $5,200 | FanDuel: $6,500
This suggestion is not for the risk-averse. Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing both praised Carter for his Week 16 performance and suggested that the team may use a hot hand approach to managing their backfield in Week 17. Carter seems to be the last man standing in the Cardinals’ backfield, but Emari Demercado and Corey Kiner could continue to battle him for carries in Week 17. Cardinals NFL DFS RBs have a tremendous matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, whom I’ve been picking on all season. And why shouldn’t I? The Bengals have given up the most rushing yards and the most PPR fantasy points to NFL DFS RBs.Â
