NFL DFS QB Top Tier Picks

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Was Josh Allen good in Week 1? No, no he was not. Did he face a really good defense in Week 1? Yes, yes he did. Does he play a good defense in Week 2? No, no he does not. The Bills are at home and face a Raiders team on the road for the second straight week. After four turnovers from Allen led to their loss against the Jets, I expect him to tear apart this Raiders defense that allowed Russell Wilson to have 125 and two touchdowns before halftime last week before the Broncos offense became non-existed. I don't see that happening to the Bills here and think Allen is in a great spot.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

I loved what we saw from Lawrence in Week 1 as he completed 75% of his passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns. He also added seven carries for 21 yards. Yes, he threw a pick but those will happen from time-to-time. What was great was seeing his immediate connection with Calvin Ridley. This matchup has a 51 game total which is the highest on the board and we have Lawrence with the home field advantage here as well.

NFL DFS QB Mid-Tier Picks

Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

Richardson definitely passed the smell test in Week 1 against the Jaguars as he completed nearly 65% of his passes for 223 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also added 10 carries for 40 yards and a rushing score. The interception was a pretty badly overthrown ball and he knew it right away that it was a mistake but everything else looked good. The mobility is going to give him some nice upside each week and if he turns out to be a better passer than many predicted we could see 20+ fantasy points with regularity. IF there was one potential drawback here its that Houston did just face Lamar Jackson last week so they have some redundancy here when it comes to preparing for a mobile QB.

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

Does everyone remember this matchup from last season? The Lions and Seahawks combined to score 93 points. In Week 1 Goff threw for 253 yards with one touchdown in KC against the Chiefs. He now faces a Seahawks defense that just allowed Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua to go for over 100-yards each. We saw Amon-Ra St.Brown be an immediate factor in Week 1 but so was Josh Reynolds and rookie TE Sam LaPorta. We've also been told that Jahmyr Gibbs will get ramped up. This could be a sneaky big day from Jared Goff if we find ourselves in a high scoring shootout.

NFL DFS QB Value Picks

Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

As I mentioned, the Seahawks and Lions combined to score 93 points and in that game Geno Smith threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns. Week 1 left a lot to be desired from this Seahawks offense but the Lions defense still isn't anything that special. With DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba at his disposal we should see a nice bounce back week here.

Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Has Hell frozen over? Possibly, but, I can't ignore what we just saw happen to the Chicago Bears defense last week by the Jordan Love led Packers and not think that Mike Evans and Chris Godwin will have a field day against this secondary. Sure, it still requires Baker Mayfield to be somewhat serviceable and I still think he is a terrible QB but sometimes matchups are just too good to not take a shot on. Mayfield did throw two TD's in Week 1 against the Vikings in an upset win and more importantly he had zero turnovers. Lets see if he can string together back-to-back starts.

NFL DFS QB Fade

Dak Prescot, Dallas Cowboys

Sure, the weather obviously played a big factor in Prescott's Week 1 performance but I want no part of him this week against the New York Jets. The Jets defense forced four turnovers against Josh Allen on Monday night and Prescott is just as prone to turnovers as Allen is. Feels like another down week is on the horizon for Prescott this week.
