Ravens vs. Steelers Predictions, Picks & Odds: NFL Week 18, 1/4
Week 18 always carries two opposite ends of the spectrum. You have games that literally do not matter at all in the grand scheme of things. And then you have ones where it’s all on the line. These are playoff games, for all intents and purposes. And the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers is one of those good ones.
The winner of this game wins the AFC North and moves on to the NFL playoffs. The loser goes home. Simple as that. On one side a 42 year old Aaron Rodgers attempts to continue to grow his Hall of Fame legacy. On the other, a multiple time MVP Lamar Jackson looks to add his first Super Bowl. This is the big one this week and it will play out live on Sunday Night Football!

Ravens vs. Steelers Predictions For Sunday 1:00 PM ET, NFL Week 18
These division rivals are no strangers, obviously. In fact, last season they played three times as they met again in the playoffs. The regular season matchups where split 1-1, but the Ravens took down the Steelers 28-14 in the playoffs. However, that was with Russell Wilson at quarterback for the Steelers - earlier this year when Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson squared off, the Steelers won 27-22.
The Steelers had been on a three-game winning streak going into Week 17. And all they needed to do was beat the lowly Cleveland Browns to lock up the division. Instead, they lost 13-6 and here we are. The Ravens, on the other hand, beat the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night to keep their dream alive. This will be their third prime-time game in a row after losing to New England on Sunday Night Football in Week 16.
Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson's Health
Lamar Jackson has been riddled with injuries this season. Most players deal with one, maybe two lingering injuries. Lamar Jackson has deal with hamstring, ankle, knee, toe, and, most recently, back issues. All that has led him to be questionable virtually every week. And there’s no doubt that the team is better off with their MVP-caliber quarterback running the show.
Lamar Jackson hasn’t been the only one nicked up for the Ravens. The signal-called on defense, Roquan Smith, missed a big chunk of time earlier this year. And the defense was notably worse without the middle linebacker and the defensive leader during that stretch.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Still No DK Metcalf
A debate can be had over whether DK Metcalf deserved the suspension he received for an altercation with a Lions fan. But the fact of the matter here is that it’s been issued and his appeal was turned down by the NFL. That and the loss of Darnell Washington to a broken arm will see guys like Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Adam Thielen, and Pat Freiermuth as the top receiving options for the Steelers.

Every NFL team deals with injuries to some degree. So we try to say that that’s “no excuse”. But the reality is that the injuries to each team aren’t created equally. You can’t tell me that the Seahawks losing Julian Love for nine games has the same impact as the Bengals losing Joe Burrow for nine games. In fact, there is some research out there that attempts to quantify that info.
This Ravens team not only lost their leader on offense for a stretch, but also their leader on defense. So they started the season with a brutal stretch of games including the Bills, Lions, Chiefs, Texans, and Rams. It’s no surprise that their one win came against the Cleveland Browns, especially with the injuries. But, right when Roquan Smith returned, they rattled off five straight wins. Then, the injuries started up for Lamar Jackson again.
If this team were just a little more healthy early on, they wouldn’t even be in this play-in game. And, even if Lamar Jackson has to come out of the game, I’m not sure the Steelers can beat this team with Tyler Huntley at the helm either - who just beat the Green Bay Packers last week. The reality here is that the Ravens have most of their key pieces now when it matters most, while the Steelers will be without some crucial ones in DK Metcalf and Darnell Washington.
