Panthers vs. Browns Predictions, Picks & Odds: NFL Week 3, 9/27
Hope is all these two franchises have ever asked for. Obviously, the goal for everyone is to compete for a Super Bowl. But for many of these teams, simply not having to blow things up and rebuild is a win. Both the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns have been back to the drawing board many times.
So Panthers fans have to be optimistic about Bryce Young throwing three touchdowns in back-to-back games. Sure, their defense could do nothing to stop the Bears, but they have scored 30+ points in both games they have played and are sitting at 1-1. If you can drop 30, you have a shot in any game.
For the Cleveland Browns, hope has been even more scarce. And the first few plays of the season certainly looked ugly behind embattled QB Deshaun Watson. But he has since leveled out and played serviceable football. With their young weapons in Denzel Boston, KC Concepion, Harold Fannin, and Quinshon Judkins, Cleveland football fans at least have something to be excited about for the first time in a long while.
🏅 Panthers vs. Browns Expert Pick: Deshaun Watson Over 25.6 Rushing Yards (-115 on DraftKings)
As we mentioned, Deshaun Watson has not looked terrible as of late in this offense. The Browns and Todd Monken are doing their best to utilize him the way the Texans used him back when he was a star in this league. Not only was Watson a force in the passing game back then, but he wasn’t scared to use his legs to make things happen. Todd Monken comes over from an offense with Lamar Jackson, so it’s natural that element will be part of it.
So, not only is DeShuan Watson scrambling, but Monken is actually calling designed runs. If you remove all of the scrambles, QB sneaks, and kneel-downs, Watson is actually tied with Josh Allen and Tyler Shough to lead the league with five designed runs. Caleb Williams ran for 65 yards against this Panthers defense, and even Cooper Rush had two carries for 20. Watson has now run the ball 6 and 7 times in his two games, so we like betting the over on the rushing for Watson this week.

🏉 Panthers vs. Browns Injury Report & Latest News
The Browns news is always going to revolve around the quarterback position. Currently, Deshaun Watson is QB13 in fantasy football, coming off a win last week, so the possession arrow is in his favor. The other big news is the emergence of rookie Denzel Boston, who has hit the ground running with some big plays. On the injury front, Cleveland has some concerns up front: Teven Jenkins (back) sat out Wednesday's practice entirely, while Tytus Howard (knee) and cornerback Tyson Campbell (ankle/hip) were both limited.
The scoring of Week One showed some promise for the Panthers, but they have to feel good beating a division rival like Atlanta in the decisive fashion they did last week. The injury report is a bit crowded defensively, as linebackers Jaelan Phillips (back), Devin Lloyd (calf), and Claudin Cherelus (shoulder), along with safety Nick Scott (rib) and tight end Darren Waller (rest), all sat out Wednesday. We are hoping those were mostly veteran rest days. Receiver Jalen Coker (ankle) was limited, but he played through the ankle injury last week and looked good, so we aren’t overly concerned.
