Despite the hefty week of byes, there are so many fun storylines to follow this week, from Javonte Williams' revenge game to Aaron Rodgers facing off against his old team. Let's hope for some nail-biters this week, because Week 7 did not disappoint!

NFL Week Two Picks Against The Spread + NFL Week 8 Schedule Predictions

For the NFL Week 8 Schedule, we have 26 of the 32 teams playing in 13 games, with a season high of six teams on bye this week: the Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams, and Seattle Seahawks. NFL Week 8 Picks Against The Spread: Chicago Bears +6.5 (-110 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

Once again, I am picking my Chicago Bears to cover the spread. Is there some bias here? Maybe, but they are also underdogs against a one-win team while on a four-game winning streak. The Ravens' defense has been one of the worst overall units in the NFL, letting up 37 or more points in four out of their six games thus far. While they have dealt with their fair share of injuries and are starting to get healthier, the unit has struggled all season, with or without injuries. On top of that, their MVP quarterback, Lamar Jackson, is ALSO working his way back from an injury. He did return to practice yesterday, but he was a limited participant and worked behind both Cooper Rush and Snoop Huntley. That does not really show much confidence that he will be 100% come Sunday.

The Bears have dealt with injuries as well, especially on the defensive side of the ball, but have rallied through them, forcing a league-leading 16 turnovers, 15 in their last four games. On the offensive side of the ball, they lead the league in big plays per game and are the only team to have put up 21+ points in every single one of their games. All the while, it feels like the Bears have yet to play a complete game; one week it's the passing game, the next it's the run game that leads them to victory. The Ben Johnson offense has always been noted as complicated, as it even took veteran Jared Goff several weeks to completely get down. I think Caleb Williams and the Bears are approaching that point. Even if Lamar Jackson is healthy, I think this ball-hawking defense and high-upside offense are enough to keep the game close, especially against a suspect Ravens defense.

 

 

 

NFL Week 8 Picks Against The Spread: New York Giants +7.5 (-114 at Caesars Sportsbook)

Usually, I don't highlight two underdogs in one article, but how could I not with another Giants vs. Eagles matchup on the docket? These two teams met up just two weeks ago on Thursday Night Football, and the Giants were able to pull off a shocking upset in a 34-17 blowout. If the game leaned so much in the Giants' favor just 14 days ago, why are they over a touchdown underdog this time around? The Giants have started to find their stride on the offensive side of the ball, despite some rookie growing pains. They even put up 32 points against an elite Broncos defense in a heartbreaking, last-second loss. That same Broncos team beat the Eagles 21-17.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have not shown consistency on either side of the ball. Superstar running back Saquon Barkley has yet to find his stride this season. The passing game has been hit-or-miss at best. Last week was a great showing by Hurts, but he has yet to be able to string together those great showings in back-to-back weeks. The Eagles were without Jalen Carter the first time these two teams met, so I think that will be a big impact on this game, but not enough for a +7.5 spread after the underdog won by 17 in their last meeting. I think the Eagles win this one, but certainly not by more than one score. We have to stop sleeping on this Giants team.
