Welcome to our NFL Week 7 Picks Straight Up! Honestly, I do not remember a year when things seemed more wide open for any team to rise to the top and make a run. No team seems unstoppable anymore, and coming off double upsets on our Monday Night Football Doubleheader, I think we are in for a great week once again.

So without further ado, it is time to bring you our expert NFL Week 7 Picks Straight Up. Below, you will find my picks, some highlighted matchups, and the schedules and spreads for every game this week.

 

 

 

NFL Week 7 Picks Straight Up & Odds For All 15 Games

With Week 7 here, we have some great matchups on paper with 15 games on the slate! In the following section, you will find my predictions, with the teams I anticipate coming away with a victory highlighted in bold. Odds are courtesy of BetMGM:

 

 

 

NFL Week 7 Picks Straight Up: Jacksonville Jaguars ML (+140 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

The Jacksonville Jaguars may have let me down last week with my picks (Travis Hunter, WHY did you line up offside?????), but I am doubling down and picking them again here. Last week, the Jaguars were facing the second-best rushing defense in terms of rushing yards allowed per game, and now they get to face the 15th-best. Going from a top unit to a middle-of-the-pack unit should be able to get the run game back on track, which has been the strength of this offense thus far. Brian Thomas also seems to be back to his 2024 form, which was much needed for this passing game. I think the Rams' defense is incredibly talented, but the Jaguars do match up fairly well against them.

Moving to the other side of the ball, I fear what the Rams offense looks like without Puka Nacua. The Rams' run game has always been more about volume than efficiency, with Kyren Williams leading the pack, but it grows to be even more inefficient when Nacua isn't blocking on the perimeter. Obviously, the passing game struggles without him out there. With Nacua going down last week for the Rams, Stafford struggled to put up 180 passing yards against a historically bad Ravens pass defense. The Rams were 2-4 without Nacua on the field last year, and the offense struggled significantly, even against bottom-ranked defenses. Now, with Puka's availability in question going up against a defense that has been absolutely relentless so far this season, I am surprised the Jaguars are underdogs here. Add on the fact that this game is taking place at the Jags' second home in London, and I have to take the Jaguars to get the win here.

 

 

 

NFL Week 7 Picks Straight Up: Carolina Panthers ML (-116 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

The Carolina Panthers are so back. The team looked to be back to its inconsistent form, a la early-2024 form, but over the past two weeks, the offense has been unlocked (again) and looks more like the Panthers we saw at the end of 2024. Rico Dowdle has helped unlock the run game to levels that we haven't seen in Carolina since Christian McCaffrey led their backfield. Tetairoa McMilan found the endzone (finally) and doubled down, getting two touchdowns. The offense should be getting even better with the return of both Chuba Hubbard and Jalen Coker. Against a Jets defense that hadn't gotten a single turnover until last week, I really like how this team matches up.

Things look to be heading in the opposite direction for the New York Jets. They finished with -10 net passing yards on the day, with Justin Fields at the helm, and took nine sacks. Now, they will likely be without Garrett Wilson. As a Bears fan, I have gotten to watch a lot of Justin Fields. Justin Fields without his #1 receiver when no one (and I mean NO ONE) was getting separation outside of Wilson for this Jets team? This could be very ugly. The fire sale before the trade deadline for the Jets might be coming soon, and this game could be the nail in the coffin.
