NFL Week 17 Picks Straight Up: New York Giants ML (+105 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

Ah, yes, a battle for the number one overall pick. This is a game that I am sure no one else is really talking about, but it could drastically change the future of both of these franchises. If the Giants end up with the number one pick, they could get a massive haul for the top pick from a QB-needy team to jumpstart their rebuild, similar to the Chicago Bears a few years back. If the Las Vegas Raiders lose out and end up with the top pick, they could be looking for a full reset and part ways with head coach Pete Carroll after just one year on the job, as he is reportedly on the hot seat.

Going into this game, looking at each team's talents on paper and who needs this win more, I have far more faith in the New York Giants. They already have some statement wins from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, they have a young and talented defense itching to prove their worth, and overall, a better rookie class than the Raiders (no offense, Ashton Jeanty), likely trying to build some momentum into 2026. The Raiders' offensive line has been banged up all year and has been one of the worst units both in terms of run blocking AND pass blocking. With this matchup on the line of scrimmage, I am surprised that the Raiders are favored here. Yes, they kept it close against the Texans last week, and the Giants struggled against the Vikings, but that was a rookie quarterback struggling against a defensive coordinator who ALWAYS has rookie quarterbacks struggling. I like the Giants to win outright here.

NFL Week 17 Picks Straight Up: Green Bay Packers ML (-158 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

While the Green Bay Packers are now without Micah Parsons, I feel like people forget that they were a playoff team last year with an elite defense down the stretch without Micah Parsons. Even last week, they held the explosive Chicago Bears offense to 16 points in regulation. The Bears only put up three points through three quarters against Green Bay on their home turf. If it weren't for some late-game heroics from Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, and Jahdae Walker, the Packers would have likely beaten the Bears without Parsons AND Jordan Love (among other key injuries). Jeff Hafley is an elite defensive mind and is considered a head coaching candidate in the next hiring cycle. He is now going to lead his unit up against an inconsistent Ravens team that could be without their former MVP quarterback, Lamar Jackson, who seemingly refuses to let Derrick Henry carry the load.

On the other side of the ball, the Ravens defense is ranked in the bottom half of the league in just about every defensive metric. Admittedly, since Nnamdi Madubuike got injured, I don't think this defense has been the same. He and Kyle Hamilton have been crucial for this scheme, and with one half of that group out, I don't see the Ravens defense slowing down an explosive Packers offense playing to keep their playoff hopes alive. Green Bay has two capible quarterbacks in Jordan Love and Malik Willis and no matter who is under center, with a healthy group of weapons around them, I expect them to come away with a win.
